I remember when I was going through a tough time in my relationship and I was also staying with my parents. I would cry all night and wake up with swollen eyes and I knew my dad knew I have been fighting with my bf (my parents knew about my relationship and had also met him once). A month later I was talking to my mom (I had moved to another city by then) and was trying to explain it to her that it’s not working out but she thought i was exaggerating and was telling me to work it out and suddenly my dad came and told her that if she wants to break up then don’t force her to re-think. If she’s unhappy she’s unhappy. My mom was confused because she didn’t know about all those nights I had spent crying. 2 days later she came over to stay with me for a week so that I don’t feel lonely or depressed going through the breakup. Breakup’s are tough but parents, siblings or close friends whoever you chose to confide in can be your biggest support system.

I remember the time when I was crying because of a break up. I told my mum that my ex broke up with me and she started crying too. She then asked me to watch some movies on TV to make my mood lighter. Though that really didn't change my mood, I still appreciate her kind gesture.

My family adored him, so for a while, they really hoped we'd get back together. I had to sit with my mom, convince her that it wasn't a regular misunderstanding, and that I'd appreciate some space to take care of myself while we both healed. I know it was hard for her, but she never brought it up in conversation after that. :)
