Literally sat in class for nearly an hour listening to my geometry teacher and taking notes but had no idea how to do it. I watch you do 3 problems and have it down. I hate geometry with a passion okay bye.

Why can't you spilt up the square root of 12, by the square root of 2 and 6? Question: #6
@MaeMap4 жыл бұрын
To simplify square roots, we want to pull out any perfect squares. So sqrt(12) can be written as sqrt(4*3), where 4 is a perfect square. That can then be changed to 2 *sqrt(3). But sqrt(2*6) cannot be simplified because those factors are not perfect squares.

@ 3:02 why did u turn it into X (squared) + X (squared), what happened to the Y ?
@MaeMap5 жыл бұрын
Since the triangle is a 45-45-90, the two sides are the same. X is equivalent to Y. So y squared is equal to x squared.
@gray-thesilverquill5 жыл бұрын
Because they equal the same thing.

Say we were working number 2. Instead of 4, we put 7. When you square 7 then get 49, you get a decimal when you try to do that in half. What do I do?
@MaeMap4 жыл бұрын
That should be fine. Either leave it as a decimal or exact number.

for number 5 would it matter if we put 2(y) to the second power or would it be considered wrong
@MaeMap4 жыл бұрын
That would be fine! They are equivalent so it doesn't matter which on you use. Great question!!

On number 5, if I got 6√2 over 2 how do I simplify to get 3√2? (I was tough a bit differently so I just don't know how to get to that step)
@MaeMap5 жыл бұрын
6√2 over 2 is the same as 6 over 2 times √2 and 6 over 2 = 3, therefore, we have 3 times √2 = 3√2

It’s a little late but they did that because y=x it is just substitution in order to get the answer
