@amjPeace yes, for a right triangle, it is possible to have two sides of length 3 and 4, and the hypotenuse length 5 since those satisfy the pythagorean theorem: 3^2 + 4^2 = 5^2 the numbers 3, 4, 5, are sometimes referred to as a 'Pythagorean Triple' because of this. There are others of course! For example: 5 ^ 2 + 12 ^ 2 = 13 ^ 2 so that 5, 12, 13 are another 'Pythagorean Triple'

Oh yes! I remember now! We were taught to recognize when a triangle was a multiple of a 3-4-5. For instance 6^2+8^2=10^2. And 9^2+12^2=15^2. What a blast from the past! And I had completely forgotten about 5-12-13 triangles. Please keep on doing what you're doing, PatrickJMT! I can't thank you enough.

Great explanation of the origins of these special right triangles. I agree with your comment about understanding being more important than memorization. I encourage my students to do the same. Ps...I post your videos from time to time on my website for students to defer to for additional help if they need it on assignments. I've had good feedback from those who take the time to watch them. Thank you very much for the work you put into making these, and for making them easily accessible.
