Please take this seriously. Naming a team is important. As much as I'm gonna miss my team in the desert; getting THIS team out of the hands of Alex Meruelo is THE BEST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN! Wish them well. This team plays with so much heart, it's criminal that they had to play for such a disfunctional owner. I want to see hockey in the desert. IT DOES WORK! Just not with Alex Meruelo!

Baring trademarks I'd like to see something like Swarm, Bison, Roadrunners, Stags/Elk, Eagles, Herd, Outlaws, Grizzlies, or Bobcats Hopefully they don't and I somewhat doubt they will go with a branding like blizzard / snow theme or mountain theme as it's far too similar to a team in their same division. (Avalanche) Honorable but weaker mentions: Sasquatch, Yeti, Arches/Archers, Fighting Trout, Pioneers, Cottonwoods, Saints/Fighting Saints Would be cool to see another team name with two words like the maple leaf's and blue jackets. What does everyone think they'll go with?

Yeti is the worst ever. Has nothing to do with Utah at all. Should be something western themed. Wranglers, Renegades, Outlaws. We have big wild horse herds in the state, maybe the Mustangs? Fur trappers in the early 1800s have a huge history here as well, the Trappers maybe? Would love it to be the Golden Eagles as a tribute to that great IHL team we had a long time ago in the old Salt Palace but don't see that happening. Also nothing with 2 Zs in it so the Blizzard should be out. Only snow themed names I heard that sounded decent so far is the Snowcats. It needs to be taken seriously though cuz the eyes of the hockey world are upon us fer sure. I really hope we don't screw this one up.

The team name should begin UTAH for the state. The continuation should be SL(xxxx) with the first two letters representing Salt Lake City. I've already proposed several: SLAKE, SLUICE, SLOG, SLAM, SLING, SLITHER, etc. With explanations. All having ties to the state or hockey or both. Don't be same old. Be different. Like Kraken. Try it. Find and propose a UTAH SLxxx name for the team.

From Denver, huge Colorado Avalanche fan. You guys should stay away from snow names. If you're going to take from us, you should go with a Rocky Mountain Rage thing. The Avalanche were almost named the Rocky Mountain Extreme, and I'm not talking about that. Pay homage to our fallen minor league hockey team and the torn down arena in Broomfield that held many fun concerts for me as a young adult. The logo was awesome too. Rocky Mountain Rage.
