I found the same thing when I turned my TV 180 degrees, with the discoloration... at first I didn't understand what the heck was going on, until I turned back. Sadly, my TV loses the blue color and while tapping sometimes brings it back, it's not sustainable. @@strictlynineties Damn dude. You don't fuck around. My first crt was a piece of shit. I've got a couple d series. They are something special for 240p gaming but they suck for everything else. Calibrating crts can be a deep dive. You can use the smpte color bars pattern to calibrate the color and brightness with that dvd you bought. I have a video guide on it. The problem is that most of these crts have bad white balance cause they super old. You can buy calibration tools to get the white balance improved. They cost like 100 bucks and are not easy to use. The xbr can be adjusted to improve white ballance on an old ass crt that has gone out of wack by setting the trinitone video mode to medium and the color correct to on. use a white screen and try and see which mode gets it whiter. You can set the trinitone to high if it is really bad but if the tv is not that bad than the trinitone setting to high will make your tv look blueish. I would suggest starting with my vid. Geometry calibration is whole other can of worms and you will need a grid pattern for that.

And yes, setting this to high does give blueish tint to whites such as snow and clouds on my screen but I have a hard time turning off. What is the matter with the KV-36XBR400 and the HD inputs? Can’t it still output retro consoles with Scanlines?
@riggel88042 жыл бұрын
It can not. It also has bad input lag. It shouldn't be used for 240p content imo.
@Hamel77772 жыл бұрын
@@riggel8804 it actually can! and exceptionally well i might add, if you go into the service menu of most hd wega's you can enable HDPT (High Definition Pass Through) if that is enabled you will get legless gameplay as long as you are running a res of 1080i or 540p, add interger scaled scan lines in with retroarch and its truly a thing of beauty

this model supports 480p?

No. It's standard def. 480i only. I'm using boomer magic to get my graphics card to output 480i.

@@doninacio6881 negative my dude. All xbrs 250 and older are 480i only only. Xbr200, xbr48 etc. You can see in this video the tv doesn't say hd anywhere on the back.

What resolution are you using? are you using an Intel CPU? Are you using CRT switcres? How did you get a proper signal to work on your tv
@riggel88042 жыл бұрын
The only resolution this tv will display is 480i/240p (they are the same res). Only certain GPUs work. I use an old ATI card. I am using switch res. It is awesome. CRTEmudriver is the crux of the biscuit. Follow the instructions on their website and it will work. You will probabley need a vga to component transcoder. It might be easier ti find a rgb to component transcoder and getting a cable with vga on one end and scart on the other. Good luck. It takes some time and effort.

someone is giving away a kv-32xbr450...is it worth getting?
@riggel88043 жыл бұрын
I had one of those. I took it to the dump. It's going to upscale 240p to 480i. So no scanlines. It's also going to have a lot of input lag. It's okay for 480p content but even with that there are better tvs. Xbr250 is the last standard def xbr. All the higher numbers are bad for 240p games

@@joshforsyth5710 awesome! Did you get the xbr or the fs17? My wife dropped mine once too. I glued the plastic back on with liquid nail. Crazy that a 73 year old tried to move it. I hope I'm like that when I'm old. Yes 480i looks really good on flat screen sony TVs. The ps2 looks good as well. I used to play 240p games via the virtual console with the wii component cables. It works well. How is the geometry on the tv? Do menus look okay or are they warped? They often bow in the middle on the top.
