Update: 14:05 Indeed the USB Type-C cable that I had been using was the issue USB-C 3.1 Gen2 10 Gbps (Baseus CATPN-01). I've bought a new USB4 40 Gbps (PremiumCord KU4CX12BK) and it just works. I believe a proper 10 Gbps should be enough as well (definitely do NOT buy Baseus cables).

Hey, don't know if its still relevant but I was using macbook + windows pc for some time with this monitor. Just wanted to suggest few tricks. So KVM in this device switches whenever display turns off. You don't have to put your computers on a sleep each time you want to switch. With your setup, you could bind the "turn off screen" action to "power button" in Windows. (Power button is useless when PC is on anyway) And on a Mac you could lock it by pressing Control + Command + Q and then press Esc to switch off screen. It might be better if you use multiple monitor configuration and can't reach that kvm button behind. So to switch from PC you just push power button. Switching from Mac: Control + Command + Q and then hit Esc This way it will going to work even if you have more monitors without KVM. Just plug every computer to every monitor and your shared peripherals to one with KVM. (I had 3 monitors on a desk for some time with such setup) P.S. Also you could wake up your Lenovo just hitting a keyboard. (Sorry for being obvious but mb you haven't noticed) =D

The KVM in this Gigabyte model is very dumb and unfinished. "USB-only KVM switch" for around 15-20$ (e.g. Ugreen 30767/30768) and instructions i left above are better and more flexible. To potential buyers: I'd suggest to not make your buying decision based on presence of KVM in M32Q. On the other hand, fully functional type-c is very handy for plugging laptops with a single cable. Btw, Sidekick software is complete garbage, making it work is like winning a lottery. But I still love this Ugly Duckling for amazing combination of: panel quality, size, pixel density and feature set.

@@capitoneo Thanks for the input. I use the kwm button if I need to (when I don't want to turn off/put to sleep any of my devices). And of course I know I can wake my Lenovo by hitting the keyboard :D.

So, if I have a setup with two monitors, I need to connect both displayports to the PC and I can then get by on my laptop by using a HDMI cable for the second monitor, and the USB-C for the KVM monitor and peripherals? And that will make both monitors work on both setups?
@aricanto17643 ай бұрын
Yes, but software is terrible -> will need to hit KVM button on each monitor individually to switch between.

I don't understand these monitors that have KVM features. For example, I have two computers. CPU#1 Gaming PC Connected to DP Port on Monitor and CPU#2 Internet PC connected to HDMI Port on Monitor. Will this work by just having one mouse one keyboard and one set of Speakers? I know your setup is different but I just want to make sure it works for my setup. It shouldn't be complicated if these monitors have "true" KVM Switch capabilities like KVM boxes...no?

Hi, i have this monitor but i cant make the KVM work. The KVM hardware is set up that way, DisplayPort(PC) > DisplayPort(Monitor) - Type C(Monitor) > Type C(Laptop or Smartphone), when i press the switch it gives me control of mouse and keyboard for a few seconds but it seems to not recognize the video and then it goes back to my main screen after a black screen along with the original source of keyboard and mouse(PC). Type C cable - Baseus PD2.0 60w Transmission speed 480mbps Any help on how to fix it?

i have the same monitor with quite similar setup for now. except for the windows laptop part, where I connect my PC using a displayport to the monitor. Just a question, is it just me or a single USB-C / thunderbolt cable from the monitor to the MacBook pro wont work? I tried having just one type c cable from the monitor to my MacBook but the monitor keeps switching back to my windows PC. TLDR; Based on your diagram at 1:35, if the right side is the MacBook pro, will that work?

One note: The OSD Sidekick software is terrible - I have a M27Q & M27U. Software works great on M27Q on my Laptop (set up a shortcut to switch to Desktop), but dual monitor KVM setup does not seem to work, and cannot get the buggy software working on Desktop to Laptop for M27Q. M27U just will not work. On top of this, the Gigabyte Control Centre (GCC) is just terrible.

Hey man thanks for both guides, just like other fellas I’ve got a question. I got a desktop computer, a MacBook pro, and a ps5. %80 percent of the time I’ll be using the pc and check MacBook once in a while. I should be connecting display port and the usb b to the pc, type c usb(that supports video) to mac, and lastly hdmi to the ps5 rlght?
@patronautsvirtualworld8155 Жыл бұрын
That sounds about right, although I suppose you will not use it as KVM with the ps5 and I have not tested whether having a 3rd video input connected will cause issues. Even if not, you will probably have to switch the source of the video signal manually in the monitor settings when using the PS5.
@berkoksal9587 Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for the respond dude. I’ve checked some other videos I’ll be using kvm between pc-mac. And just switch to ps5 through monitor settings whenever I want.

is it possible to share the usb-c on the monitor, one for kvm connection and also connecting a usbc-hub?
@CraigNesbit2 жыл бұрын
Very helpful, thank you. Would this work with a gaming PC using DisplayPort (for best video quality) and a Windows laptop (HDMI or USB-C)? If so, will there be lag introduced by the USB hub?
@patronautsvirtualworld81552 жыл бұрын
Confused about your question. Yes there is dedicated DisplayPort on the monitor as well. So you can have a DisplayPort + Usb B cable and the second PC with USB-C (that also transfers DisplayPort signal). So you should be able to have 2 PC connected over DisplayPort I believe (although I have not tested this). I did not notice any lag whatsoever.

Hi I have a doubt, if I connect DP Port to the PC and HDMI port to the mac (USB C to HDMI) does KVM work.
@patronautsvirtualworld81558 ай бұрын
Both computer must be able to also transfer i/o data. Which means you need to connect one of them via the USB-C (on the back of the monitor, this also transfers video) and the other via the USB-B (on the back of the monitor, this only transfer i/o data) .

Hey man, good video and good solutions! I also have a Legion 5 Pro, if you are using just one USB-C to USB-C cable to carry everything, besides the issue you mentioned, did you also notice other issues? Like refresh rate capped or G-Sync not working? In short, would it better to use a USB-C to DP cable for transferring display signal and another USB-C to USB-C for mouse and keyboard signals between monitor and L5P? Or one USB4 cable will be well enough for everything. Thank you

@patronautsvirtualworld81552 жыл бұрын
@@xtronaltic well, it seems the cable that you've bought might not be as good as you though. This is exactly the error that I've been experiencing with the wrong cable. The issue with cables is that often they are not clear about the speeds that they can reach and even worse, they often lie about the speed that they can reach. If you have time to return the cable do so and order a different one.
@xtronaltic2 жыл бұрын
@@patronautsvirtualworld8155 I unpluged the Anker thunderbolt 4 cable, ordered another Anker USB 4 cable, tried with the new cable, still same error. I thought Anker should be a good brand, on Amazon the thunderbolt 4 cable also labeled "Intel Thunderbolt Certified", not sure what's wrong with both cables. I did some research, this seems like a common issue when displayport alternate mode is requested through USB-C port. You just replaced the cable and the error never showed up?

Anyone have success with the KVM switch on a dual PC setup?
@RoliRuli2 жыл бұрын
Hey man, i just bought the monitor and so far i’m having a blast, awesome overall monitor, but i have an issue. Whenever i turn my pc on/from sleep mode, my monitor usb ports get disconnected and my mouse and keyboard wont work unless i switch KVM button on and off (i’m not planning on using 2 pc with the monitor). It’s not a dealbreaker and i can always use my pc ports, but it is kinda annoying to do it every time since I wanted to use monitor ports for sleek cable management. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix it? I already have sidekick and monitor software is FO2. Thx in advance
@patronautsvirtualworld81552 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Try to turn on System > Other Settings > Input Auto switch. If it does not help, then on your PC try to set the USB that is connected to the monitor to always on in power management or bios if possible. And if it does not work either, then on top of everything try to switch System > Other Settings > Auto Power OFF to OFF. Please report back what have helped.

@patronautsvirtualworld81552 жыл бұрын
@@RoliRuli you could try 2 more things. Try to turn OFF KVM. If it is off, try to turn it on. And secondly, maybe try to use different cables. And actually thirdly, try it with a different PC, maybe your PC is at fault, not the monitor. Or just return it as you said.

I had this issue just now. I was able to fix it by setting my connections to my laptop as hdmi 2 and type c. Initially I had type c and type c which made me lose connection when my computer went to sleep to my keyboard and mouse on the usb hub.
