The world of Suzie Wong starring Nancy Kwan and Willian Holden. 1960 ❤
Never got a chance to see this movie. But the song was popular when I was a kid. My late mum could sing a few lines. Rose...flower of Malaya! That's my homeland. Lovely country. Now it's Malaysia. Must see this movie one day coz Nancy Kwan is so beautiful.

Time for this song to be revived. Our GIs in the Pacific in WWII were so lonely for their friends and families back home and the kindness of some of the girls that they met along the way was something that they remembered into their later years. Most of them are gone now,

@@shadowzho2690 Pretty sure the video was that of old Hong Kong . Shanghai music was very popular in Hong Kong in the 50s.

@@shadowzho2690 Song maybe Shanghai, but movie Hong Kong! Song does not feature in the film, however.
A touching and very human film that sees people as humans. A relationship between Suzie and Lomax is a mix of Roman Holiday, Madame Butterfly, Love Is a Many Splendoured Thing, La Boheme, and the Sound of Music.

At 0:10, one of the president lines, s.s. Cleveland brought me here to the gold mountain in 1956. With no prospect what to expect at the age of 19, I told people that I felt like winning a lottery ticket, but it was a bitter and sweet long 62 years journey, prejudice, hard work, and worries plus joy and suffering through the years, I am more homesick than ever now. i know how you feel after all these years, I have the same feeling too. What can we do, just live and let live. It's amazing, just brink eyes and it's been more than several decades. Now, we have no where to turn and try to refran from all those good memories and hope for good health and some day we can go back to visit to the place we came from, from time to time.
