@ 7:46 "we still have room for the voice traffic and we can still send it first" If voice traffic can always be send before data traffic (with priority queuing), would it make sense to reserve as little buffer memory to voice traffic as possible. Is it ever possible to not have room in a priority queue, since it's being serviced first?

***** My apologies Kevin, when I was asking about the having room in the priority queue, I meant queue depth (amount of buffer space reserved for priority queue). So, is it possible to run out of buffer space in priority queue or in other words is it possible for priority queue to fill up if it's being serviced first and being policed.

***** I watched "Cisco Catalyst 3560 and 3750 QoS Simplified... Seriously!"; it's a very good QoS video, but I still wasn't able to find the explanation. Do you mind explaining how low value of CIR causes Priority Queue overflow (tail drop)? Does the policing occur before the packets enter the queue or after?

***** Thank you for the detailed explanation Kevin. Now consider your example above of a router with LAN/WAN speed mismatch and with the LLQ configured with let's say 128 kbps policer on the priority queue (to avoid the starvation of the other queues). Wouldn't all the excess video packets (over 128 kbps) be dropped by the policer? Would any video packet be dropped due to the queue being full (tail drop)? Basically, wouldn't the policer prevent the queue from ever filling up?

***** Now that you told me that policing occurs after queuing, it all makes sense now. Thank you for answering all my questions.
