This is a great video. I recently started designing my own piston extenders. So far I've got 1-wide tilable DPEs for every direction as well as a 1-high AB-tilable sideways DPE. Even though it's a lot harder, I managed to get all my DPEs to work with 1-tick-pulses as inputs and they all are dust-, repeater- and comparatorless. I am probably gonna scrap the idea of a dustless repeaterless comparatorless 1-tick-input triple extender for a while.

Hey man great video. With the first horizontal design you can set the top repeater to 2 ticks and disregard the bottom observers. Having the repeater set at 2 ticks will give enough time for a full retraction. See! Your teaching works!

29:55 I think it is because player inputs are not synchronous with the server tick clock. Any way of powering something with no delay, the activation will happen at the time the server gets the player input. If you introduce delay, it will be activated whenever the server simulates a tick. There is a difference between how tile entity ticks and scheduled ticks are handled, and blocks that are moved by a piston are also handled by a tile entity. Which is why the timing of the pistons can be a little bit off when activating them directly.
