Vitas Carnis is one of the few analogue horrors done right. It both acts as an authentic analogue video, and has the right story incentives for said video to be created. The horror is absolutely spectacularly done, the screams of the mother for her child, the way the vita carnis get more dangerous and more large, the way that some of them are hard to even notice. The fact that they can *get into your house* unnoticed is truly horrifying. The thought and effort put into vita carnis is and will always be incredible in my eyes

The other thing is that it gets as close to feeling real as possible. These things fit into nature, and do what they do well, and are also preventable. Sure, it’s dangerous, but at the same time, you can survive, which, in a way, makes it feel more real, making it feel scarier. All in all, I love the detail put into it as well, and think that the points that *you* suggested are just as true!

Kinda reminds me of some of the stuff in monster hunter, and I would love to see more horror with slight speculative evolution mixed in! A quiet place does and the last of us adding subtle touches of realism are the details I strive for!

Something that always gets me with the Harvester victims segment, is the idea that maybe the child was first lured to the Harvester grounds because they saw a small animal like a Bunny, and wanted to get closer. Something about a curious child wanted to get close to nature, just for nature to bite back and kill them… that’s haunting

What I like about Vita Carnis is that humans still have the edge and always will, they just now have a creature which specifically preys on them, which isn’t entirely unfound in the animal kingdom. Lowkey I kinda wish the lore was that they’ve always been here opposed to randomly appeared.

Part of the lore is the origin of these things, if you don't mind the spoiler: The storybook pages are possibly telling the story of their origins as a creation of an extraterrestrial entity, and the storybook itself is propaganda from the cult that originated along side vita carnis (you can see their logo flashing in the cooking video when they talk about the seasoning, which are actually host spores, and on a flag in one of the last storybook pages)
