I really hope chat can convince the funny streamer man to look at Glitch’s other stuff. Murder Drones has a lot of the same self-aware comedy tropes as TADC but with a darker visual tone (and if you thought choreography in this show was good, just wait till you see the Murder Drones fight scenes) and Meta Runner is just a really solid more typical animated series. Also, Gaslight District (their next upcoming project) looks amazing as well.

I think a big reason why I love tadc so much is cause it takes advantage of the fact that its 3d animated so well. Its not simply trying to replicate real life or 2d animation but in 3d but its actively using the fact its 3d to do things that would be alot harder to do in 2d. As a 3d artist it makes me alot happier watching this medium actually evolve in ways beyond hyper realism and more in creating new styles.

I don't know. This entire series feels a bit...blase? Between the Tumblr sexyman whose bitter and sarcastic but has a "heart of gold" but with implied mystery, the spastic humor, the fact that Caine is LITERALLY just Alex Rochon's Spamton (complete with theoretical bracketed text), the "kid friendly but with a dark twist for ironic purposes" thing? This entire section just feels like it was focus tested. Just a complete clusterfuck of late 2010s KZbin fandom trends. The animation and voice performances are genuinely fantastic. And it does what it's supposed to do well enough. It's perfectly serviceable for what it is. But there's just this feeling that it came from a desire for money before any passion. Like there's no reason to ever believe that this series will take any risks. If that makes any sense.

Genuine disagreement, I think that it reflects those fandom trends because they are the main inspiration for its unique humor style, and while it holds fairly close to those tropes you mentioned which is likely where your feeling of blasé is coming from, it exaggerates them to near satirical levels which, in at least my opinion, adds to the force of the interactions. Jax is a jerk full stop, Kinger is deranged, Gangle is depressed, and Ragatha is a wetwipe letting anyone and everyone walk all over her (though so far she is the character with most complexity introduced imo). Considering it’s a pilot I think this kind of distinctive characterization gives a great launching point for more complexity in the full show instead of the slop of random traits that come and go that a huge amount of modern shows suffer from, and I’m excited to see where this goes.
