Not only do you own a Mercedes Benz, you have probably the best series ever built! With a little love it'll be near perfect. I'm working on my '82 300D and a recently acquired '82 240D. The engines are a work of art!

Pritty darn fancy owning a Mercedes. Make sure you stick that pinky out when drinking coffee. Lol Great video! I agree, my unprofessional opinion is that timing chain looks just fine. That oil leak is considered good here in Minnesota, it helps keep the underbody rust in check. It was cool to see the differences in parts on the European car. From what I read that inline 5 cylinder is very dependable and great mileage.

The W123 is probably one of the best cars ever made. I reckon there's more of them driving around still with over half a million miles than less.

Great buy :) Also that wasn't the timing chain, it's the oil pump chain

Nice ride. Under 200K, that thing is barely broke in.

did you use ATF or power steering fluid for the power steering reservoir?

"From what I am used to this thing is rust free". In Europe this would be sold as near "rust free" too and probably cost 3x more.
