I am a data scientist and this idea has already been implemented. We can use AWS translator, Azure, GCP. This idea is not unique & limited to only one business case. The dumbest idea to invest in such a case.

No its is not a dumb thing to invest on. There is literally zero context based translations available for most Indian languages due to lack of lexicon training. If they are able to do this mammoth task of NLP, it will really make India a powerhouse. It's was easy to do in Japan or China because they have just one language and that also has thousands of single characters which define an entire word in English.

🤣 you are right I am also a CS engineer, all the time I was thinking about only one fact that these sharks are from management background they don't have in depth knowledge of technology that's the point they both people took and represented their idea with so many technical words in their conversation while this is very easy task to develop such an app. 🤣

@@jarvisb.6013 Google only does optimized translation for the major languages in the world where the dataset is easily available like french german mandarin etc. Devnagri uses the optimised translations for regional india languages only which makes their consumer potential 1.5 billion . They get their data set from local contributors themselves which increases the accuracy for tone, grammar etc of their neural network for other indian languages only.

Not sure about the valuation, but the problem they are working on, is real and important and actually different from that of Google does.
