Yamaha rd125lc faults and possible fixes

Brings back so many great memories for me blasting around the streets of Cardiff in the eighties. I didn't actually own the 125 but had a blue rd350lc and a white/blue rd350lc. I would gladly offer my wife in part exchange for one now. Great vid mate.

Hey I have a question if you still read These so, Me and my dad have been renowating a rd 125 lc from 83 and been experiencing problem with coolant leaks from the radiator and yet to figure out the problem so I was wondering if you had found a solution to it or not thanks in advance if you actually Bother to read

You've done brilliant renovating it.i had one as a 17 year old in 1982,soon as it came out.are you going respray it etc as the decal kits are still available.id love a go on one again,it was revolutionary in its day.i think they were around £860 brand new or £20 a week on hp for a 17 year old lol.great video very interesting

Hey, I got an RD125LC -83. Now I've got a problem with the motorcycle not revving right. It's fine when you rev it in neutral. But put it in gear and go then it loses power and splutters at around 5-6k rpm. Now If you are lucky and get over those rpms and in to the powerband, It goes all fine all on up to 8-9k where it loses power again. I was wondering what could be doing that. I've thought of some things like ; Bad piston rings, air leak or maybe something with the ignition...

Is the reed block functioning properly? Have you checked the mica reeds? Do the cylinder head studs have decent "O" rings around them or does it seal another way?

I have replaced the reed petals for racing ones, the cylinder head is a multi layer compression gasket which has been replaced. I will get to the bottom of it, i will have a bran new engine by the end haha

I would just like to tell you i had a RD 125 MK2 and when I parked it in the kitchen and used the dishwasher to clean my plastics and the oven to heat up and remove the main bearings my MOTHER SAID"SON YOU WILL HAVE TO MOVE OUT":( To cut a long story short I am now in my 50s and own a VTR1000F and have a garage lol:) PS the boost bottle is called a YEIDS YAMAHA ENERGY INDUCTION SYSTEM:) helps the engine when it BURPS unburnt fuel HOPE THIS HELPS PPS check the water has no oil in it, it will show itself as a milky film on the radiator cap and oil filler cap:(
