@@kydeanderic I think it has more to do with people having relatively short attention spans. For an outsider who has never watched any of your other videos, committing close to an hour or more on one video is asking a lot. So that's kind of a big barrier to entry for new viewers. But on the other hand, short clickbaity travel videos are a dime a dozen now and you guys are doing something unique which serves a niche and I absolutely love that.
@kydeanderic6 жыл бұрын
Yea, so I think there is truth to that for sure, but for a couple years I was also putting out short videos a few times a month and they always performed worse than the longer videos. The issue really, is that it's aiming at a moving target with KZbin's always changing algorithm that literally no one knows how works. CGPGrey made a good video about it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGqyeaFrj6tni9E It puts us in a hard spot, do I conform to what KZbin wants and just become yet-another clickbaity travel vlog channel in order to keep the project "alive" or do I just make what I want to make and hope enough people enjoy it enough to help us out on Patreon? So far that is the route I chose, as I think if I had to make clickbaity videos I wouldn't personally enjoy watching I'd rather just stop making videos. But yea, it's a complex situation we've found ourselves in. Not quite succeeding, but also not quite failing either. -Eric

Good video, glad you liked Zadar. Zadar was heavily destroyed in world war 2, almoast all the buildings, including that cathedral you were in. You can check photos online. You can see shrapnel holes on the pillar in the video for instance. Before that bombardment it was filled with statues, sculptures, had an amazing theater, the streets were all made out of cobblestone. It all had to be renovated. The city walls are now part of UNESCO world hearitage. And you didnt mention the church of St. Donatus at 27:06 which is symbol of the city. About the expensive food, well....im sure you already saw the prices in rest of Dalmatia. Usually meals are plentifull, and good, that one didn't look like it.

Yeah that was a really bad call from the allies... (dunno who did it, the british or the americans...). "Well we heard that there are a few italians in this general area, which is incidentally inhabited by a population who is already actively resisting them and had been for some time. What can we do to help? I know! Let's raze to the ground this 3000 year old ancient capital of the people we're supposed to be liberating! That'll surely help!" Really awful stuff. Thousands of civilians died, most of whom were actively on the allies side, the ancient city core was completely pulverized, more than two thousand years of continuous history of architecture, probably more spectacular than say Dubrovnik, while I doubt they managed to hit a single italian soldier. Zadar used to be called "Dresden of the Adriatic" and that tells you something.

So you washed a load at 95 degrees? That's fine if it was just towels , but if it was clothes, didn't it ruin/shrink them? Very interesting video btw. All the Roman artifacts were fascinating. I love how you give all that information.

All good, all good, thank you, nice video. I have family in Zadar, visit there often, and can tell you one thing for sure: we don’t have an ocean there! NO!!! It’s beautiful unique Adriatic SEA! So, there, if you mention swim, it’s in the sea 🌊 keep that in mind please, coz, Adriatic Sea dwellers hate to hear ocean or water IT IS THE SEA 🙏🤦♀️🤪😁

Yea, this must be some linguistical quirk in Croatian that's not shared in English, "Sea" and "Ocean" are used interchangeably in English despite there being a difference in the strict meaning, and we got a lot of comments from local Croatians for some reason offended we used the word "ocean". -E

@@kydeanderic I hope you don’t take it personal, they just pointing out what is very important to them. I live in Australia, almost all my life, I run in to this mistake in the beginning hahaha, I understand English thinking and expression, but us, we are a bit soft in that respect 😊🤗 Thank you for the video again, it’s lovely and done with enthusiasm 👏👑

I`m a bloke. I might just have found something out about washing machines, since I unquestioningly expect my washing machine to take about 3 hours to complete its cycle. I just shove my clothes in, add powder and press "Start." I had no idea there were alternatives. Ta, Kyde.

1.in Croatia ice cream and gelato are same thing 2.SEA(Adriatic sea) not ocean 3, in Zagreb you have eat peka which is originally from Dalmatia(everything in that restauran is from region Dalmatian Hinterland ) , and than in Zadar ravioli which are from Istria...Nothing wrong with it its just funny for me.. 4.in Croatia is traditinal/kultur to go drink caffee in caffe bar(we like to drink it slow and enjoy, especially in Dalmatia because we have no stress/take it easy rule ; ) ), and is soo super cheap... 5. i am so sorry that you didnt visit island Ugljan across Zadar, it takes only 20-30 min with ferry and it is not expensiv

1 & 2: In English sea and ocean are used interchangeably in casual speech. Kinda like ice cream and gelato in Croatia. Haha. -E

Jooooooj!!!!

Yea, I'm learning that in American English we use the terms sea and ocean interchangeably even though they have different meanings.

In my family we only have these types of washing machines. We prefere to opent it from the top. 😃 P.s. I believe someone pulled the dial button out and inserted it back incorrectly. Damn! 😂

Your videos just started showing up on my KZbin recommendations and you two are great. Both my parents are from Croatia and my mom is from the suburbs of Zadar and this was a great presentation of the city. You definitely have to be careful on this smooth cobblestone streets they are slippery on a sunny day but when it rains you can break and ankle that's for sure. The other thing too is when it comes to the restaurants, during tourist season they jack up the prices all over Croatia especially in the tourist trap areas so sometimes its better to find a place to eat outside of the tourist traps and you'll get a good mean for a decent price.

Although Whirlpool is an American make, the use of widely understood symbols makes sense in Europe, a market of many languages. You see the same thing with road signs.
