I appreciate you Bro. Kyle! As we hope to give a defend to our faith and to share God with those who do not know Him, we should not be "interested in winning debates" just as Kyle said in his opening speech. Our interest should be to lovingly introducing people to God and to what He has done for them.

Shermer's congeniality in his opening remarks is to be commended. It really set the tone for the engagement throughout and the Q&A towards the end. However, the true standout in this debate is the way Butt countered Shermer's questions and assertions. Butt was well prepared in his presentation and gave precise answers to Shermer's points. I pray that the discussion had here gave believers and non-believers alike a more thoughtful understanding of both positions and a challenge to always pursue truth.

Would have been way better to just put these guys in a room for a few hours and record them having a conversation about this stuff. The strict format was just counterproductive and distracting. Pretty sure these guys could handle letting each other talk.

Of all the debates I watched, there has never been an aggressive moderator like this one here - even presidential debates have nicer moderators.

Audio is bad. Really bad. Are there more than one sources recording the audio? I see the hand held mic on the pole and I see one on kyles shirt. I’m wondering if the audio on the shirt is available and can be lined up with the video cam. ? I want to share some clips and links to the debate but the audio is bad. When Kyle moves closer it begins to sound better but then goes back to the very echoing sound like speaking inside a tin can.

I thought this was a very interesting and respectful debate. I didn't hear a single ad hominem or straw man until the interview after the debate, during which the three gentleman felt it necessary to do what Mr. Butt did not. Hats off for him for refusing to do so even when Mr Shermer wasn't there to defend himself. Even during the post mortem, he remained professional and respectful. Well done, Sir!

I enjoyed the debate. I liked both the debaters and the moderator. I agreed with most of the pre and post-debate commentary. What I did NOT like is the two-hour format. In my opinion, each segment needed to be twice as long and everyone from the audience should have been allowed to ask their questions. But I definitely thought this was worth my time and I thank GBN and Faulkner University for having it.

Greetings. I happened to find this debate recently. I watched it last Sunday afternoon. Brother Butt presented and defended the classic arguments for God's existence well enough. Dr. Shermer, while gifted, failed to negate the affirmative that the God of the Bible exists. “The Warren-Flew Debate on the Existence of God,” in 1976, is the classic debate. As a side note, I thought that I recognized David Hester, PhD! He and I attended Freed-Hardeman College (before it became a University), in the 1980s. Why would preachers even refer to many schools who have abandoned clear bible teachings as “our” schools? Pepperdine folk have added; musical instruments to worship, women preachers, calling theirselves by manmade religious names to distance theirselves from one of the names of the NT church of Christ’s church in scripture etc.? Why do God’s people even refer to them as a “ church of Christ “ school? More than a little perplexing to me.

I thoroughly enjoyed Professor Shermer! Quite the jolly fellow, he presented as a warm and congenial human being--a refreshing departure from the hostile, combative, bitter "usual suspects" to which we have become accustomed!

I am surprised about Shermer's demeanor. His statements are shaky and his stuttering and babbling about there being supposed Christians in the room doesn't bring anything to the argument and it appears as nonsense. I believe Shermer may have felt a string of fear due to Kyle's reasonable statements. His political points during a debate caused me to fear for Shermer. I wished his approach would have brought reasonable statements and questions for us to ponder.

This was an interesting debate, very professionally handled. I do believe they were talking past each other too much of the time. I'm agnostic and welcome debating anyone here further, as I was not convinced by Kyle's arguments. Kyle is clearly charismatic and smart, but his points came across more as preaching rather than logical, which presumably should be the point of this debate.
