SPINNING, in all caps. What is it? Well... its me trying to blow up! It's hip-hop/trap put through the Kyle Landon filter. Also, it takes place in the middle of The World Will Spin Without Me, but was made a couple of months after it. Basically, in that album, I literally sell my soul, and this album is the resulting music I made after doing that. Not that hip-hop is inherently deprived of soul, I love it, but I wanted to represent desperation and dishonesty. The picture is a photo of me that was taken with a girl I liked, then put through a deep-dream filter a couple of times until it was freakish enough to genuinely upset me. Taking a genuinely happy moment and completely corrupting it. Represents the album as a whole, I guess. I went crazy and made every beat in 4 days. The laughter you hear throughout the album is supposed to be my producer tag, which is a practice I understand but don't really care for. I still don't have an actual tag. I sampled it from a little plastic grim reaper keychain i bought on aliexpress or one of those websites back in 2015. I've heard the laugh elsewhere, I'm sure its a stock sound somewhere. I came up with all the song titles first, and then made the songs to match, taking the order of the titles and my desired emotional progression of the album into account.
MEMORY. Maybe my best "pop" song. This is my girlfriend's favorite (and it also happens to be about her... back when we were just friends.) I really don't have much to say about the beat, its just a trap beat I dunno. That was kinda the point of the whole album lol. Another rare use of autotune! Overall, a simple and cute song, I like it lots.
LOCUST. This beat has a secret I might as well share now. I never EVER sample other people's music, but I wanted this album to be something I wouldn't usually do, full of moves I wouldn't usually make. So, I chopped up a song from Knuckles Chaotix (Labyrinth) , pitched it down, transcribed it, and then muted it, leaving a piano playing the sampled chopped melody behind. I added the synth and the song came together nicely. Probably the most legally sound way to sample stuff. As for the lyrics, definitely about my now gf lol. Maybe if you learn anything from me, its that 1.you can break out of the friendzone! and 2. you could say the worst things in a song and it still won't come true so be dramatic and don't worry about it! Makes you wonder, if I ever pretended to have money in any of these songs, if it woulda shown up...
IDOL. These lyrics didn't age well to me. I had some struggles a shortly after this. HOWEVER, this song is a great example of a character going on some ultra-confident ego trip about a bunch of shit he knows deep down isn't true. I always find it interesting to rattle off super judgmental old-testament type sentiments, they're always extra scary.
DATE. I just improvised the chorus and it stayed. Mannnn I flowed on this song, nobody can tell me I can't rap. The lyrics are just more heartsick nonsense, I dunno, I didn't want to think too hard about any of these.
FAVOR. This song slaps. The sample is a recording I made on my phone of me singing along to Cables from Selfish Animal while driving. Nobody in a million years would have ever figured that out on their own. I took the chorus flow from Birdman's flow on Flava. "got the chopper with the mac in the back with the stacks..." I have no shame, that's an incredible song. The lyrics are just me trying to sound interesting, not that they should be discounted or anything though.
IRREVERSIBLE. This ones weird. Sometimes you make 17 beats in a row and some of them will be weirder than others. The lyrics here really look like I know what I'm talking about lmao. Neat lil song, not much more to say than that.

MUTT. I love this track. For those that don't know, I am a multi-racial Logic type part black part mexican part white part who knows what else person, a mutt. This song is the first time I ever wrote about this. Shoutout to the Kirby reference. But yeah. the backwards sample is a song I did earlier in 2018, I'm saying "aren't you proud of me?" I have no idea how I got the idea to put it in there like that, but I do remember there being a different vocal passage in there originally and it sounding ugly as shit! But overall, I love the groove of this track, I love the keys, the chorus, everything. Maybe I should make more music about my life instead of making up stories and being cryptic and negative lol PIGTAILS. This is the worst song I've ever released. The beat kinda rides though, and I am flowing real confidently, but I dunno, I could go without it. Just rapping about whatever. Who cares lol GRAPEVINE. Only song with live guitar on this album. I love this song. About traveling to and from the town I went to high school in, you have to drive through the Grapevine freeway north of Los Angeles to get there.. I love how this song almost sounds classy. I wanna use the word "snooty" for some reason. I sampled an unused pattern from Money's Good If Money's Great off The World Will Spin Without Me. Also about a girl from my past and my botched attempts to reconnect with her. Man, story of my life. Writing these writeups has made that abundantly clear smh. ELDRITCH. Mannn what a slapper. At this point I was barely making trap music anymore, but try and tell me this track doesn't make you move + groove. That lyric about my dreams repeating was true, its a strange and scary thing, I hope you never experience it. This was also sampled from an unreleased 2018 song. Just wanted a song that was creepy lyrically but groovy too. Well, I say that, but I was rushing these out super quick, who knows what I was thinking? WEED. The best song on the album. Samples an unused track from 2017. Was originally 2 mins long but decided it REQUIRED another verse, but just ended up adding a whole second half instead. Everything after that lone "She is gone" is the added stuff that almost wasn't added, and goodness me, its even better than the first half. It was thiiis close to not happening at all! Makes me think of a quote I heard recently. To paraphrase, they said when you think you're done with something, you're only 40% done. Though, that could backfire and you could end up overwriting or overthinking or whatever, so I guess develop a super strong sense of editing, quality control, and detachment for the sake of the greater good before trying to go the extra 60%. If you can't tell, I was, am, and always will be straight edge, but back in the day, I was uncomfortably angry about it. I had a big ego and superiority complex about it. I no longer feel this way at all but mannn I really put all my feelings into this one. It started when my friends back in high school started to smoke for the first time, and I just remember how sad and boring hanging out with them became once they started getting high. We used to have so much fun, so much laughter, so much energy, and almost overnight all of our hangouts just became quiet and slow, and I was always the only one not giggling to myself. This song is a classic. THROAT. Sampled an unreleased song from 2016. This is one of my girl's favorite songs of mine, which is strange, but lets me know that yeah, if more people gave me a chance they'd find plenty to love, even the stuff I never would have guessed. Song was made real quick, I don't really remember anything about it, but I like it lots. I should speedmake songs more. WHOLE. This song is disgusting lmao. Get hole/get whole huh? Real clever. I love the beat, it sounds like a waterfall level lol. Lots of these songs, especially this one, were just written on impulse mostly, it's hard to have too much trivia about them. However... REGISTER. This one is nastyyyy. My ideal trap song. I got the biggest headache recording the "i want ten thousand wrinkly thinning scalps" verse, it had to be one take, it just had to be. Had to quote B.Y.O.B. by System, of course. I remember improvising that "when you run back home" part. Politics, conspiracies, I don't think these lyrics aged bad in the slightest. Like I said in the Big Moon writeup, you can never go wrong with descending pads. COLLEGE. Disgusting song I regret, just awful, negative filth about the worst aspects of humanity. The lyrics are full of awful things I shouldn't be putting into the air. But man, it sounds good. I never went to college and always had resentment towards all that partying and whatnot. I think it's directly because of that fuckin video "You" by nobodytm. I highly advise against watching that video and disagree with all of the alt right nonsense within, but if I have peeked your curiosity and can't stop you, skip to 12:18 and watch the whole Mr. Rogers section (assuming you can even find the video nowadays lol.) Anyways... back to COLLEGE... The vocal sample is from the "don't forget me" part of Jet Alone on The World Will Spin Without Me. Another example of me perverting myself for the sake of this album, cuz thats such a nice sweet moment over there. I love how the sub bass kinda lurches back and forth. Its a great song but I wish it wasn't mine. FIFTIES. This ones a doozy. Does it count as weird R&B? I dunno. The main sample playing throughout the song is from an unused song, but the thing is, I used it out of spite to myself. This song was originally going to be a bigger, Margaux type of art pop song, but I decided to spit in my own face and just add trap drums to it and make it way less "artsy" than originally intended. Don't get me wrong, I love this song, but this is not what it was supposed to be, and that's an odd thing to know. TIRED. Same story as FIFTIES. I was trying to figure out what phrygian was and messing with scales for the first time. I kept hearing the composer of Halo talk about phrygian. That's why I used the sidestick sample that I did, it reminds me of the snare on Heretic, Hero from Halo 2. I came up with the chords and melodies and wanted to use it for something much bigger, but ended up adding trap drums and called it a day. I kinda hit those notes during that break though! Lyrically, its about the girl I am now with, so don't lose hope lol. I don't think she's heard this one, actually. Maybe this is an R&B song? I'm not exactly sure what R&B is sometimes lol. The lyrics here do serve the greater SPINNING/The World Will Spin Without Me Story, in that it represents me rediscovering and fully submitting myself into love, and kinda breaking the contract with the devil and regaining my heart and soul back. I probably didn't represent that too clearly though. Its neat how this album is 37:59 and then The World Will Spin Without Me is 38:01. They just barely missed being the same length.
