I knew it was bad when a relative of mine said she watched the entire trial, but still didn't know about the fact that he was legally allowed to posses a hunting rifle and that he didn't cross state lines with it. Also, about the "He's just 17, he shouldn't be at a violent riot." That you hear people say. Keep your morality out of the law, he wasn't in court to find out whether or not whether or not people agreed with him. Also, he has just as much of a right to be there as the people burning shit down for 'black lives'. If this movement was real all those people would have been cleaning up trash in the ghetto and getting involved in programs to help educate young black kids to get them out of crime ridden areas

By the second day I was convinced he was innocent and that conviction only grew as the show went on. Came out of quarantine and told my friends that I was glad he was found not guilty and that it had been an important day for civil liberties. One of my friends responded passive aggressively claiming it was odd that I supported someone shooting unarmed black men. That moment opened my eyes a lot. Gaige Grosskreutz, the third person who was shot but survived, was carrying a loaded Glock in his hand, that he pointed right at the kid. He didn't get shot at first either, not until he pointed the gun at Rittenhouse. So please actually learn some facts about the case before jumping to conclusions. Look, I'm not supporting what he did, but I'm also able to understand why he got away with what he did. You can't attacked an armed person and not expect them respond. You can't attack an armed person just because you "think" they might hurt someone. At that point, the kid hadn't hurt anyone, it was only when he was attacked that people got hurt.

@@Baitmen *"Except he was a child with an AR15 that went there knowing that would happen"* There were hundreds if not thousands of similarly-armed citizens there doing essentially the same thing he was. Did it happen to them? No. Because they didn't know that it would, and didn't go there to make it happen either. In other words, your feelings are not facts. *"as he was on video that same year saying he wishes he had his AR to shoot looters."* Irrelevant. Different incident, different circumstances. As you'll note, instead of "firing rounds" at the people he though were in the process of committing an armed robbery, he called the police and reported the crime instead, like any responsible citizen would. Might want to stop and consider all the harmless shit-talking you did with your friends when you were seventeen. *"Judge threw that out and the Wisconsin law saying that juveniles couldn’t carry an AR around saying a non related hunting law made the law not clear."* Sadly, once again, your feelings are not facts, and that is not what the law said at all. The law in question was very clear, as it is required by constitutional law (Supremacy Clause) to comply with the Second Amendment and 10 USC 246. I'm a truck driver and i listened to Rittenhouses entire testimony while driving a 10 hour shift. I listened to his direct and cross examination and the prosecutor was trying to paint him as an active shooter. The kid broke down on the stand when they started asking him to remember when he was being surrounded. They tried to kill him, he tried to run, he was cut off by people and he couldn't run any further, he turned around and faced the gun at his assailant who yelled 'Fuck you!' and tried to grab his gun. he was then shot 4 times. That kid did everything he possibly could and that guy went for his gun and died. After that everyone scattered and he contiuned running towards the police. Active shooters are classified as anyone who just starts blowing people away. This kid showed amazing discipline to continue to the police in an area controlled and overrun by rioters. The justice system actually worked and it's being used to spin a political divide, they want us fighting because the divisiveness is profitable. When I got back to my table mate he commented about how he thought Kyle was dumb to go out with "an assault rifle" to kill innocent protesters. It was beyond a different perspective it was like he'd been fed a different situation completely. I had to explain that he was defending himself when he was chased by a guy calling for his death and then beaten with a skateboard while another man tried to beat him. He went to the "he shouldn't have been there in the first place" and I explained that "the pedophile shouldn't have chased a minor and then try to take his rifle from him". It was like he was hearing these details for the first time. It's astonishing how many people don't know the details of a case as high profile as this because their media doesn't want them to know.

The reason you never see anyone in an argument on social media agreeing with each other. Is because there are 3 types of arguments: 1. Argument from emotion (You're mean and people are suffering and that's more important than whether something is true) 2. Argument from what you'd like to be true because you imagine it'll improve the world (idealistic thinking, hypotheticals, often impractical or impossible because most people won't live up to your standards or your ideal is dumb to begin with) 3. Statistics, averages, evidence. (Which always is unpleasant because most people fall into the average category by definition) Which ever one of these three you choose, in your mind you'll be right in a way. The Wisconsin statute does not forbid a teenager to carry a rifle, that charge was tossed aside on day one of the trial. But the “crossing state lines” - perfectly everyday legal event for Americans - remains as an artifact, a vestige of that first misunderstood legal issue. Pretty much every rioter crossed the lines of more than one state, many armed, some illegally so.
