I used to be a gun buyer for Cabelas and I saw some insane collections. Below are some of the most notable but I could go on for hours about the stuff we were invited to buy. Fourtune 500 executive with a literal bank vault in his house with 10” thick steel walls and tens of millions of dollars in high end custom rifles and shotguns inside. 90 year old guy and his whole upstairs of his house was guns stacked like cordwood, all of them coated in dust, and every one fully loaded with the safety off. None of them touched in 30 years. Retired banker living in a regular residential neighborhood with a civil war museum, half a dozen confederate generals uniforms, Abe Lincoln’s field chair, and his dwindling collection of a dozen K98 sniper rifles, Gatling gun, and a pile of assorted civil war carbines that looked like they were made yesterday. And big pile of diamond and platinum nazi medals, daggers, and swords. REALLY into unique personalized high ranking nazi medals and presentation guns. If I get too specific there are a certain group of collectors that will know exactly who I’m talking about. Another guy that had probably 5-600 used police trade handguns and patrol rifles stacked like cordwood in safes ready to arm 300 guys with rifles pistols and ammo. Another guy that had hundreds upon hundreds of Colt 1911’s and Colt SAA’s literally on every surface all over his house just to look at.
