its survival mechanism. if a person isn't going to be a liability(begging money or food or substances) its good to make friends. time comes someone want to plot some devious shit against you, they going to have a hard time signing people up. example: at rikers island, a blood had a problem with me, but i was coworkers with 3 other bloods my rack was in the blood section(cause they were jail-friends/jail-coworkers). other 2 bloods i was friends with due to common interests (skateboarding and gambling) time came he tried to sign people up to move on me they all said "nah man hes cool, i like him" or "so you want me to do 6 more months cause you got a problem with? im trying go home man" . eventually that blood threw piss on some senior citizen OG who was handicapped. it was over for him. all the bloods marched him into the bathroom and cut him to the white meat ear to chin. dude was an asshole and deserved it. by the time i left OBC, i had seniority in the dorm and had the power to "pack up"(kick out) people from the block, even though I was unaffiliated. due to my duration there and social status. my profession outside is software engineer. in fact i had my "google"(where i worked at the time) windbreaker on at the time of incarceration. my jail name was "google". i was in the short timer worker duty block (1 year or less offense, my sentence was 1 year )

@@poet8708 it depends. never saw forced intercourse. saw/participated in two brutal slashings (ear to chin). i was in the short timer building (M building) where low level crimes (year or less) are sent.its basically adult day care. however M building is only 1 of 26 buildings. I spent 6 months as a work detail worker in OBC building. otis bantum correctional ... they kept all the people awaiting trial for violent crimes there. that place was savage. we were largely safe because we were the work detail and protected as such by the guards. all work detail are short timers. inmates also relied on us because work detail were the only block that had freedom of movement in entire building, we also ran the commissary. these guys were dangerous but they knew if they wanted to do business inside, they needed us and intimidation did not work as inside there we had exponentially more power than them. nevertheless still a blood lost his sense pissed on an OGs bed(in our block), and the blood marched him in bathroom and cut him ear to chin. a cop was also slashed ear to chin, and another inmate also in the yard... but this guy ... people say it was deep and he literally had no left side of his mouth. there was also a "gladiator arena". i was the judge of the fights. basically if you had beef with another inmate you both volunteer for cafeteria cleanup. after there is this long 150 yard walk. you walk this unsupervised. so if people had beef, they would fight at the bottom of the stairwell at the very end of the hall. i would judge the fight and they would duke it out until someone tapped out. i was trusted to give an honest neutral reporting of the fight. it was dirty street fighting, hands only. my personal actions... a main OBC inmate tried to slash me, i dodged and he was blocked by the bars, i also had to "pack up" some one and was involved in about 7 fist fights.. which i won all of. (i am ex taiwanese triad member, very talented at violence).. some people had it rough in, real slaves the whole time. but they were all super weak dudes... like one was trans. other people were slaves to their habits.. the people who controlled their substance owned them. if i had gone in when i was 20 .. i would have been terrified. but i had a lot of life experience by 35 when i went in. i was a respected elder in every dorm i went. i was full neutral(all asians are by default) however i was very close with the bloods, and friends with the latin kings. for instance when i was booted from work detail in OBC because of strike... i was moved to SRG (security risk group) block.... there was a blood at the door when i arrived... waiting for me. they escorted me to rear where only the powerful people bunk... and i had prime bunk... they new about me and who I was before i even arrived... it was an entirely different building also. afterwards they showed me where all the knives were hidden in case sht went down. and it did.... they went to the knives once before i was released. it was just brandishing though no actual violence occurred.

Yet to keep your sanity you try and make it into a funny moment.

This is that Type 3 fun, though. Type 1 fun is just regular fun where you're having fun and you can remember that it was fun. Like hanging out with your friends. Type 2 fun is when you're not having fun in the moment but you can look back and realize that it was a fun time in hindsight. Like the majority of parenting. Type 3 fun is the kind of fun where you're not having fun in the moment, and you don't exactly consider it fun when looking back at it, but once you share it with your friends, you realize that it was, at the very least, a funny experience that you're glad you had but are happy is past you. Listening to this is like going back in time. I spent a year in San Diego County jail. Went from Downtown to Bailey to Descanso to Vista and back to Bailey aka Thunderdome. Making friends with dudes in there that were waaaaay harder than I was and having them be cool with you is such a mind fuck. On the exterior everyone kind of seems normal. but as you talk more and get more comfortable you start to see the weird ways the human mind starts to react to incarceration. It's the most infectious way that humans mold each other. We set up very complicated systems that essentially take very intelligent people and put them through the most controlled yet chaotic experiment we can conceive. It changes you. For anyone who's never been incarcerated, you'll never understand it completely. Be glad that you've never had the experience, but don't discount or diminish it's effect on society as a whole. Glad to see some level of humor happening around this topic. It's something that should be discussed more because the more people understand it the more we can mold the system to be more empathetic and humane. Having someone else tell you when you can eat, sleep, go outside, shit or shower is a psychologically formative experience. Don't let anyone ever convince you otherwise.
@youtubemodsaresnowflakelef76922 жыл бұрын
I live in Europe and our prisons are "nicer" than US prisons, and they do try to rehabilitate. But you can't rehabilitate people who don't want to be either. And rape happens here too. Assaults of other types happen. It's less often that someone gets killed (because we don#t have the same concept of life.. life means 20 years, ie a girl I went to school with had her mother murdered by her father - the mother's husband - when I was 15ish.. I'm now 36 and the guy has been out for quite a few years... so it's not like people have nothing to lose, even if they're murderers). Not that long ago some 19 year old kid hung himself, after he got raped in the "worst" prison here (it's not half as bad as many US state prisons, as opposed to medium or lower security club med feds). He was BUFF, but that's not gonna stop people. Anyway. They - prisoners - have lots of priviledges. They can even have consoles. And still people reoffend and do lots of shit on the outside and inside. And you can really see with immigrants. They don't igve a fuck about going to prison here, because it's nothing to them. That goes for Eastern Euros and even more so for Arabs etc. Hence rise of crime.

If it is him I hope Kyle got permission, or at least knows the guy won't have a problem with it. Otherwise it seems like a stab in the back imo.

Hadn't thought of the dreams aspect. It's bad enough with dreams Of actions and things said at work during those rare occasions (and how persistent through the day they can be), could only image how bad and often they would occur in a prison social setting.

You never tell anyone how much time you have. I walked yards with monsters, killers, mandingos, very serious people. Most have forever, aka letters, meaning their time says life plus instead of a number date. Most thought I was a lifer because of the way I carried myself and the attitude of resolve. And you never ask anyone about their time. You'll be approached by bosses or dudes looking to get recruits who will check ur charges either by checking ur paperwork or having their lawywr/cop on pay check ur NCIc papers. Chomos, rapists etc go to protective custody cuz they are targeted for extortion and when they dont pay up then the dark games begin and boy they got some games in there that are hard to imagine and seriously demented and if the boss tells you to join it isnt a question u do as told
