Back when Robert Saleh was defensive coordinator he was full of good energy and got really charged up for defensive stands and sacks, now the whole coaching staff just looks sad all the time, no energy at all. Also the team seems to be in love with getting themselves injured.

49ers are one of the most pathetic teams in the NFL. You know why? Because they are afraid to make ANY changes to their roster or coaching staff. They are talking about actually keeping Moody after all this? Come on. This is such a joke. You have to make changes in your lineup if you want to move forward and get a ring. Before even thinking about the Superbowl, how about making playoffs first? Jed York, I hope you're listening...Get rid of Lynch ASAP. Someone needs to take accountability. I know we’re all disappointed about how the season has gone but this is over emotional and not based in fact. They clearly are not afraid to make decisions. They fired Wilkes last year when many wanted him out. Let’s not forget year after year the 49ers staff gets picked over. In consecutive years the team lost Saleh, McDaniel, and DeMeco and many assistants who were under them. This staff has known nothing but turnover and I think the inconsistency on that front aka “Brain Drain” is one of the factors why team has struggled. The team had gone to the Super Bowl with Jimmy G and decided to draft Trey Lance in hopes he would develop into a Josh Allen type dual threat. That obviously didn’t work out. But you can’t say the regime is totally afraid to change things. Firing people now as opposed to 3 weeks from now makes no difference. Who would they hire or promote in the meantime if they fired the special teams coach let’s say? What I would argue is that yes now is a good chance to play some younger players and maybe bench Bosa, Warner, Kittle, etc. but I would imagine guys like Warner want nothing to do with being benched. The fact he wants to be out there is why he’s the one of the captains andde facto leader of the defense. Also they are injured enough that they may actually may not have numbers at certain groups. Players also sometimes have financial incentives in contracts. You and I don’t have all the details. But I do think it would be good to see if Cowing can play a little. Re Lynch: I think a lot of teams would like to have our problem of having so many pro bowlers. The draft is a dart throw and if you look at the NFL we’re prob doing better than most at drafting talented players and finding players through trade and free agency. Re: moody - they tried 2 other kickers. Both of them now are on other teams filling in for injured kickers lol. I’m sure Moody will be heavily evaluated. I will say as much as I give kudos to this team finding gems in the late rounds wasting picks on Wishnowski and Moody when it’s clear there’s competent punters and kickers on the street to me is misguided. If Moody shows more inconsistency to end the season he’s gone. I think given a first full offseason since 2020 to reevaluate things, an opportunity to get healthy, a 3rd-4th place schedule, etc the team should be poised to compete for a playoff birth in 25.
