I've been using my Orange iMac M4 that I configured with 32 GB RAM and a 1 TB hard drive for the past month. I am very happy with it! I upgraded from a mid-2017 build iMac Retina 4K with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB Fusion drive. I have a 5 TB external HD that I use for TimeMachine, that I also used with my previous system. The Migration Assistant process took about 4 hours. Now I need to upgrade my router from a 2017 3 GB Apple TimeCapsule, and my Arris G33 cable modem to devices that can handle the highest network speeds (3 GBs) in my area...I now have 945 Gbs download and 44 GBs upload. I wish Apple would come out with a current build TimeCapsule...buying one would be painless, and I know it would "just work!"

great review! yeah folks don't factor into account when comparing the iMac to the Mac mini that with the iMac you get a screen and a minimalistic design. Glad you compared both 'systems'. Also buying a 3rd party screen to compare the iMac with Mac mini fir the sake of keeping costs similar is not the same, you have an inferior monitor. For sure the build quality of apple is second to none, this is one of the reasons I buy an apple product, but the screen is as vital to me. For the most part, its a machine you will be staring at 99% of the time, the screen, color and all that stuff needs to be spot on! I think 24" (23.5" in reality for the iMac) is plenty of real estate for the average user, its not too big that it takes up too much space. Love all the colors but I stick with silver, I think it makes your apple products look professional and as you say a natural color. Nano texture does take the glare out but man that clarity goes down!! I will take the glare anytime over less clarity. I was at the apple store today and noticed the difference in person, save your $$ if glare for you is bearable.waited for this and bought one with 10core gpu/cpu, 512GB SSD to get the upgraded version of the iMac with 4 ports, built in ethane port in the power brick etc, This is an investment and I plan to keep it for 5yrs +. A little upgrade goes a long way. Apple is smart, their base models always leave you with something missing, its a sales pitch to get you in with the low price and upgrade.

All with stunning visuals, well… thanks! ☺️ got a better idea of where the M4s go compared to previous gen M3s (not the iMac, but I compared also minis and MBPs). 🎉

I would say that while it is a decent option, as someone who has used this ratio and resolution before, the lack of pixel density will definitely be noticeable. This Dell model also struggles with backlight bleed, has poor motion handling, and has a max brightness of 300 nits - so not great in that regard. If that stuff doesn't matter to you, it does have pretty good color accuracy out the box, and the LG IPS Black panel overall doesn't look too bad. I've got a 16:9 aspect ratio IPS black panel kicking around here still, and I don't mind it at all.

Hey Kyle.. I was considering the M4 IMac or the M4 Mini for a system to edit raw photos. That’s really the only purpose for the computer ( I’m not a gamer or video editor ). If I went with the Mini I would have to buy the monitor and everything else. In your opinion which system would be a better investment? Please keep in mind that I’m not a computer geek and everything about computers confuses the hell out of me. I can always increase the ram and storage if I went with the IMac ( any recommendations? ). The more research I do the more confused I get. I guess there’s no simple/easy answer. The Mini seems like an excellent product which makes my decision more difficult. I’m currently using a 2015 Retina IMac which is still rocking but it’s definitely time to upgrade. It seems that the IMac gets trashed by so many people. Maybe I read too many reviews. I just want to make a good decision. Any suggestions or recommendations will truly be appreciated. Thanks Dave

Depending on how much you care about scaling (Kyle said that it isn't something that's too much of a dealbreaker), getting the dell U2723QE (500 bucks for an equally colour accurate 27 inch 4k monitor vs the 24 inch 4.5k of the iMac) and maybe a used magic mouse, keyboard and trackpad combo (could be ~200 bucks or less), and some okay speakers might be a better spend than the iMac. If you want to upgrade somewhere down the line, you'd change the mini, not the peripherals. It's also good in case you want to game on a console somewhere down the line which you'd connect to the monitor. I think the modularity of a DKM + Computer better than only the iMac. I'm not Kyle, but that's what I'd do.

Recommend people order more than 16GB RAM. Software developers (including Apple with MacOS and Apple Intelligence) are going through another round of bloating their products, with the addition of "AI" (whether people want it or not.) In a couple of years 16GB RAM is going to feel tight.

Outside of the 4.5k screen and camera, I don't see it as valuable due it's price and functionality issues. - Crappy Magic mouse 🐁. - No Type A port. - Starts with only 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports. - Only 256 GB of internal SSD storage. - If something breaks, the whole thing needs to be replaced. - High-priced at $1,300. - Expensive RAM and internal SSD upgrades at initial puchase.

With the M2 to M4 Mac Mini you can get a lot more for less. The only thing you won't get is the amazing screen resolution at that price of $1,300. Example using the new M4 Mac Mini: - $800 for 24 GB RAM and 256 GB of internal SSD storage. Including a more powerful 10-core CPU. - $100 for an external storage with Samsung T9. - $205 for an LG QHD 27-inch monitor with 144hz refresh rate. - $28 for headphones 🎧 or speakers. - $33 for a 1080p 60hz web camera. - $20 for a wide mouse pad. - $26 for a wireless mouse and keyboard from Dell. - $20 for a dongle from BaseUS that includes an SD card reader and 3 Type A ports. Total = $1,232

@@KC-bi9jw Because older customized mouses or other accessories that are still good use a Type A port. For those with a desktop setup previously, this saves costs of getting new accessories. The only benefits of a Type C port are 20+ Gbps data transfer speeds and safer removal of data from USB sticks. The M4 Mac Mini has two 10 Gbps Type C ports in the front that could have been Type A ports.
