I'm 65 and have been rebounding for a few years now with great results. Seniors: I've seen a HUGE improvement in my balance as well as all the other benefits. Start slowly and work up. You don't need to get a lot of "air" for this to work, just bounce comfortably. I wear sticky socks. Outstanding for squats; get into a low squat position and instead of jumping, push your feet down into the mat. Zero knee pain for me unlike regular squats.

I’m 71 and got the rebounder to add to my in home workout on the days I don’t workout with my trainer. Living in Florida where it’s so hot there are months when I can’t go outside to walk and using my elliptical is getting boring. I’ve had it 3 weeks and learned quickly that you need to start slowly cuz my old back and knees just aren’t use to it. So I do 5 minutes in the morning and try to do that 3-4 times a day even the days I go to the gym. The one thing I noticed right away is more energy. Although many on KZbin talk about that I honestly was skeptical but it’s so true. I’ve never been a high energy person and the last year I was fatigued more but if this energy I have continues it’s so worth it. I do intermittent fasting and I’m hoping this will help me lose those last 5 pounds that have been hard to get rid of. Hope this helps old people like me who are on the fence about rebounding. I highly recommend getting the safety bar cuz it gives you the confidence when doing your workout especially when older.
@binathere25742 ай бұрын
I have read intermittent fasting is not good for seniors. It causes extra cortisol. Cortisol causes inflammation and r more estrogen. Estrogen causes weight gain. Cortisol can also cause high blood pressure. Eating more will release weight. It can take a little time, but It does.

Much better than the round units, but considerably more expensive, and apparently not available any more.

About to turn 62 and I started rebounding about 25 years ago and always loved the feeling I got after jumping. Some days I'd rebound for 30 minutes but most was around 10-15. Because of a compressed nerve in my C5 and C6 vertebrae I am no longer able to rebound because it exacerbates the symptoms of numbness in my right hand ring and pinky fingers and possibly worse (as per my doctor). I do have an idea that may allow me to continue which is to wear one of those inflatable neck pillow-braces in hopes that it will keep the discs from compressing while I jump. I hope so because its an excellent tool to maintain health.

You may research and use : INVERSION TABLE. It is almost the opposite from bouncing. Consult a good chiropractor or holistic practitioner. There is many videos about its benefits and use. Good luck from 66 years old "health nut".
Try bouncing in water, swimming pool, a depth comparable to your height in accordance with your ability to swim, your comfort level, etc. You'll bounce slower with more buoyancy, but no shock at all to joints, nerves, etc. Also ask your primary care doctor for a physical medicine referral!

Open up your lymphatic system first start with the points by the ear lobes, then the points below the clavicles, then the armpits, then the solar plexus & and stomach, then inside of arms/elbow, then the hip creases and finally behind the knees. 7 points in total before you rebound. Then finish with a good firm slapping along those points to allow the lymph’s to move.

If you have a yard/garden with space for a full size round trampoline enclosed with safety mesh around it, bouncing on that will be much more fun and beneficial, you have freedom on a larger trampoline surface area to bounce higher and to move more freely. Rebounders/mini trampolines are good for small spaces but movement on them is limited.

That’s what I was thinking!
@Makingtrax3 ай бұрын
I’ve been rebounding for a while, and it’s got lots of benefits. However, I’ve stopped jumping now and started marching/jogging on it instead because there’s much less impact on the brain. Jumping everyday must be a bit like heading the ball in soccer where the brain rebounds inside the skull. Until I can see scientific evidence that there’s no damage over the long term use then marching or jogging will provide all the benefits without the possible dangers.
@firecloud773 ай бұрын
Rebounding creates a gentle acceleration and deceleration of the head. It's nowhere near the the equivalent of heading a soccer ball. Your fear is unfounded.
@Makingtrax3 ай бұрын
@@firecloud77 Your brain floats in a fluid and every time you bounce it must bang against the skull. I really don’t think it’s that gentle. Anyway, as an older person I feel much safer jogging and marching and I get the same benefits, so it’s win win.
@firecloud773 ай бұрын
@@Makingtrax You are impacting the ground much harder when you're jogging than when you're rebounding. That is why rebounding is easier on your joints that jogging. So obviously your head (and brain) will experience less abrupt movement when you're rebounding. I'm 67, and rebounding has done me nothing but good. It's one of the easiest exercises on the body.
@Makingtrax3 ай бұрын
@@firecloud77 OK we’ll just have to disagree. Running along your joints absorb the vibrations and your head moves very little in a vertical plane. Bouncing on the rebounder your head moves through much larger vertical distances and when you reach the bottom of a bounce your whole body accelerates upwards in a way that could never happen on the ground. Your brain must bump the bottom of your skull. If heading a ball can cause dementia, it’s still a small risk.
@firecloud773 ай бұрын
@@Makingtrax Okay, I researched the subject. Someone asked: "Does jumping on a trampoline cause brain damage?" Michael Soso, an expert with a PhD in Neurophysiology answers: *_"Nope. Your brain is protected by membranes and fluid."_* If jumping on a trampoline is not harmful to the brain, than obviously a much smaller 'trampoline' is also not harmful to the brain. Your fear is completely irrational.

Great video i love rebounding, I did panic when you bounced under a ceiling fan. I had images of you having your hands chopped off. I hoping you have very high ceiling or was just camera angle. 😘

I need to try this, I exercise 6 times a week, resistance and treadmill walking at incline. Just cannot lose weight and I do not eat excessively. Need something to increase metabolism for longer periods of time.

You likely are calling inflammation weight. I have to teach my clients the difference all the time. We usually add good fat and they lose some weight because it decreases inflammation and they have less anxiety for starters!

eat 2 meals plant based meals per day. No snacks. no cheating. walk at least 10,000 steps daily. drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. cut out sugar. You will lose it. Food is the enemy. excercise helps but it not like watching what you eat

Any quality alternatives to the Bellicon? It's way too expensive, even the most basic is 600$. Too much.

So your joints don’t hurt at all with the Bellicon rebounder? That’s interesting! We have a large traditional trampoline and it hurts my back jumping on it!

Hey, thanks for the great video. I just called bellicon, and all their add-ons and everything else is just so expensive. I'm really just looking just to use this as a workout. I don't care if it looks prettier. or if it's more comfortable. do you think all three of these give you the same results, just not as comfortably? thanks

I don’t have a bellicon. I have a jump sport. I did not order the hand bar, and regret it every time I use it. One of these days I’ll order it.

I have a Jump Sport. After a couple years, I ordered the handlebar, and it’s made a huge difference. I can do more exercises and jump with more confidence. 75 yo, with osteoporosis.

the cheapie units aren’t about looks. you will definitely care about the comfort. i initially bought one and at times it felt like my knees were being jammed into cement. tension matters. that is the reason for the expense…the quality of the bungees. i purchased a jumpsport pro with adjustable tension

Not dinging this video but it seems like everyone is trying to find the holy grail of exercise, as if there is a best one. It's like the diet books, keto, Mediterranean, carnivore, etc. Only my opinion, get off your butt and move. Don't just walk, mix it up, walk fast, backwards, run some if you're capable. Do things that challenge you physically. Get off of the freaking couch and consider everything you put in your mouth. Am I eating this because it's nutritious or because it tastes good?

What about if you have problems in your back?
@MarmaladeINFP3 ай бұрын
Has rebounding ever been studied in comparison to other exercises where your body bounces by its own means? I'm thinking of: skipping ropes, skipping (like a child), hacky sack, juggling a soccer ball, jumping up and down, jumping jacks, etc. Also, maybe even jogging, running, and sprinting. If you're worried about your joints, land on your forefoot or midfoot, not on your heel.

It will help me to know if are people who are using the rebounder even if they have back problems like buildging dics or herniated discs in the cervical or lumbar area and if they feel that it is a safe wirkout to do. What are your experiences? Thanks
