as a note for those "hard tack" crackers ... traditionally dry survival crackers were expected to be dunked or put in soup. i bet those "really hard" crackers would be great to thicken up and add a bit more filling to a bowl of soup!

I am not confident with the starter, but am excited to try sometime as I love the concept of making my own crackers- been wanting to for years! Is that Pantry Secrets spices I see!? Awesome! Love their bread! Crackers and granola are next on my list- I'm talking yummy granola! Not the afraid-of-fat, tastes-like-burnt-cardboard stuff...

I make sourdough crackers with oil and seasoning and love them. The recipe I use is much stiffer then yours and much harder to roll so I am curious and will use your ratios on my next batch. I love how your family is a part of your process. ❤

I too was diagnosed as “non celiac sensitive,” but found that if I stuck with organic (no additives!) and avoided commercial yeasts, I tolerated the wheat itself just fine. But around that time I got sensitive to corn and I think it’s the glyphosate/GMO because there’s no such thing really as non-GMO corn because of how it’s fertilized by wind spread. Also I was eating a lot of it when avoiding wheat!

I have crackers that have baked cheese on top. They snap, so I know they are dry. Does the baked on cheese retain enough moisture to be a problem storing with oxygen absorbers?

@@TheProvidentPrepper nothing some Chiropractic and massage appts won't fix. Little worried about my hand. I had surgery in Nov. And it kinda aggrevated it. My hands were on the steering during impact and the air bags may have redamaged it. But maybe not. Time will tell. Each day feels a little better. Except my back is jacked up. Haha. Just stuff that takes time. I'm more upset that the air bags ruined my Seahawks jacket...lol. Melted a sleeve, darn it. 😪 I had a blessing so I know I'll be hunkie dorie in no time.

Any ideas? I am in uk and I am worrying about vit C and citrus fruit which is already so expensive. My freezer just died and all my frozen fruit has gone bad cant afford to restock so i am panicking slightly about fruit but most particularly citrus, any ideas? Thankyou
@riffhurricane2 жыл бұрын
Tons of (free) hedgerow sources of vitamin C in the uk: common ones like blackberry, hawberry & sloe. You can get good sources of vitamin C from things like pine needle tea or many leafy greens even. Learning wild foraging is a great skill for any prepper. ;)

hi, i live far far away from Utah and i ONLY find whole wheat berries at the LDS Home Storage Centers (i believe Kylene gave the web link) OR if you can find an Amish or Mennonite run grocery or supply store. for mail order there are more choices, Walmart may offer it online shipped even if your store doesnt, and of course you can find anything with the right key words (use "whole wheat berries" or "whole wheat grain" ) but i know several people who have ordered from Azure standard, pleasant hill grain, and Breadbeckers. (never, ever trust my spelling) that said, if i had to mail order instead of going to get it myself, i believe i would order from the LDS home storage webpage as i trust the quality.

@@mariannedwyer8402 true, but i am fortunate to live only about an hour's drive form a lds home storage center, AND in an area with many Amish and Mennonite folks, so i can go to get wheat at some places there also. Any type of fat? Bacon fat because Bacon makes everything taste better. Not much of a cracker fan. Probably think of biscuits or wonder if it can be a cookie? Because when I think of prepping cooking I do see a lot of them think crackers and beans things that most people don't think of eating during normal times. I actually think you did job of making crackers interesting to make maybe a ranch seasoning version 🤔

@@ragnarmjolnir9654 Which is why I specifically said taste better, but on a side note bacon soap, bacon tea, shirts with pictures of bacon in fact there is a store that specializes in selling products related to bacon. And eating bacon probably make you not mind a cut finger or car accident.

I really like the recipes. The crackers look very tasty. I don't like giving negative reviews, but had to let you know.. Sorry!! The absolute turn-off for this video, was the chewing noise. Hearing people chew makes me nauseous. Just showing the crispness when breaking them would have been enough.
