Spinning around WAS the album opener! Password was a hidden track you could only access on the CD by repeatedly hitting the skip backwards button on your CD player at the start of the album! It’s hard to explain to someone so young who’s used to downloads and streaming the pure joy that us fans got when we all found it by accident!

I loved this review. Great job! So much to unpack here. Password was a hidden track in the CD and most people probably didn’t know it was there. The album started on Spinning around (the real opener) and to hear password you had to hit rewind for like 5 minutes. Kids is a great song, but she seems to give it more love than other gems from this album. She sang it live with Dannii In Melbourne on the Showgirl tour (I was in the audience). Definitely worth checking out. You made a great point about young gays not knowing their divas, which is one of the reasons why I love your channel so much!

Great reaction Sal! Ha ha ha ha!!! I knew Impossible Princess would get you! Light Years was also a massive hit in Oz. It went to No 1. Spinning Around & On A Night Like This were both No 1 singles. The other 3 singles were all Top 20 hits. The gold hot pants Kylie wore in the video for Spinning Around were bought for 50p (about US$0.85c) from a London market in the mid 1990's. They have been voted the most famous hot pants in the world & are a national treasure in Australia. They're kept at the Arts Centre in Kylie's hometown, Melbourne. Kylie said that "they worked very hard in that video" & "are pretty worn away & you can't touch them without wearing white gloves" :-) Funny I never knew Kids was so unloved. I saw Kylie sing it live on the Showgirl Homecoming Tour in Sydney. It was so emotional because we all knew this was Kylie's comeback tour after successfully beating breast cancer. We were all in tears at times with her. It was the most amazing atmosphere! And all the love!!! Anyway, she starts singing Kids & out comes Bono to sing it with her! U2 were in town playing on their Vertigo tour. We went wild! It was just so perfect! Yeah I don't think many people in Australia knew about the Password track as it was hidden track. Kylie performed On A Night Like This & Dancing Queen at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. She also sang Waltzing Matilda & Celebration at the 2000 Sydney Paralympic Games. Absolutely amazing! Physical only really makes sense in Australia. It's a cover of another famous Aussie singer, Olivia Newtown-John's track, Physical (if you don't know it, you should check it out & the video for it is great! Very controversial at the time). It was a massive worldwide hit, especially in Australia & the US. OMG! I remember dancing to it the first time. I was 9 years old! Lots of Aussies would remember it. Probably very few Americans would. Great work! Looking forward to more reactions mate! :-)

This was Parlophone Records when it was an EMI record label. On the CD Password is a hidden track. To listen to "Password" you have to press play then rewind to hear it. Parlophone didn't want to release "Your Disco Needs You", despite public demand, because they felt it was too gay!! It only got limited release in select markets. Australia was one of them. "Kids" also features on Robbie Williams' album "Sing When You're Winning" in a slightly longer edit. I didn't know it wasn't a fan favourite until now. Funny considering "Kids" wasn't the only song on "Lkght Years" Robbie Williams co-wrote, "Your Disco Needs You" being one of them. Kylie wasn't the first to record "On A Night Like This". Both "Under The Influence Of Love and Physical are cover versions of Barry White and Olivia Newton-John respectively. _Had no issues with this video despite the copyright block_ .

This is my favorite Kylie album, I probably played it more than any of her other albums. Yeah, to echo others, Password was a Pre-Gap track that can only be accessed with a CD player that can go into the Pre=Gap, but is not really an album track proper, so Spinning Around is the true album opener. The only track I didn't like was Butterfly, that should have just been released as a B-Side, there are a couple of B-Sides that could have easily taken its place (Cover Me With Kisses, Good Life, Ocean Blue). My ultimate favorite song on the album is I'm So High, I've done many studio recordings of that song, love it to bits. Your Disco Needs You grew on me as time went on, didn't like it at first, but love it know, and it is one of two tracks she worked on with Guy Chambers and Robbie Williams, the other being Love Boat, which I love. Please Stay is my second ultimate favorite song, had so much fun learning that on guitar. Kookachoo totally gives me the theme song of Sex And The City vibes, love playing it on Bass. I know people rag a bit on the album not being cohesive, but I don't care, its an album that I adore.

Honestly, as gorgeous as Bittersweet Goodbye is, it’s a mood killer. It sticks out like a sore thumb in the middle of the album and the dance music afterwards has to work extra hard to pump up the energy again. Light Years (the song) is a perfect album closer but Bittersweet Goodbye would’ve made for a great bonus track at the end.

You have to watch the “on a night like this tour” as it will give you a new appreciation for the tracks you didn’t like. A few facts. In the days of CDs Password was a hidden track before Spinning Around, like you legit had to start the album (as SA is actually the opener) and rewind from the beginning. Butterfly was released in the US single release since Confide In Me and was her first time charting in a Billboard Chart since then (I think it was 11 on the dance charts) Under the Influence of Love was a cover Physical was actually worked up with Baz Luhrmann for a scene idea for Moulin Rouge (May or May not know Kylie had a cameo in the movie as the Green Fairy). Apparently he toyed the idea of another scene with Kylie as the Absinth Green Fairy

Also I know you've addressed it, so I hope I don't seem condescending but the TikTok generation's dependency on sub 3 minute music tracks is what is REALLY ruining music today (largely because there is pressure to conform to these restrictions). Some songs NEED space to breathe! It's hardly the fault of the artists that the youngsters of today have such short attention spans!

This album is good but for some reason most of the tracks kind of slip trough my mind and I can't really remember how much I like this album until I give it a listen again, anyway I was so glad to see Kylie returning to pop and seeing her being 100% more comfortable with it (not saying she wasn't before but she was distancing herself of the whole pwl teen popstar thingy and tried to be a little edgier with her material) and the whole pop diva image etc. Excited to see the Fever reaction!

Password was a hidden track. You had to skip back from track 1 (Spinning Around) to listen to it. It wasn't credited in the liner notes.

Password wasn't the first track on the album 🤷♂️ - it's a hidden track, that you needed to scroll backwards on to listen to it.

Unpopular opinion: I’ve never a fan of Your Disco Needs You, and would’ve rather have Butterfly get the full-single release
