We will never be "sustainable" as long as there is production. Unless you cultivate your fibers and see what is going on it's just greenwashing at best from these new brands. Also I think designers should make fashion shows when they are ready and not for the sake of the Fashion week.

That’s kind of funny that they want to remove seller fees now . I’ve sold so many things on the platform where I literally made one dollar. I’m not a reseller. These were my own things that I was trying to get rid of. I even have items on there that are priced so low that it says I actually won’t make any money if I sell them it’s kind of ridiculous. They’ll tell you to re price an item and then it’s like zero dollar profit.😂

I was recently looking into Vestiaire Collective! Do you think now might be a good time to get stuff from them? I’ve seen quite a lot of people with very bad experiences, but I’m wondering if the newfound attention might mean they’re willing to pay more attention to customer satisfaction.
@katierobinson4 ай бұрын
honestly i think it's hard to trust any site, ik vestiaire offer a valuation service for garments but i'd always be cautious shopping secondhand online and do my due diligence before buying anything!! i haven't heard anything specifically bad about them, what have you seen?? also just to go with what i said first, i did a video recently on tips for shopping secondhand online that may come in handy! kzbin.info/www/bejne/haXImIKwe8yiZrMsi=oujLtthsPrHo1KCg

@@katierobinson actually, I think that valuation feature might be the most featured thing in complaints! I’m been referring to Reddit, and most complaints are at least 9 months old, but there’s complaints about fakes of luxury goods, sellers losing money, and really bad customer service. I’ve been very bad at sticking to my resolution to only get stuff I can try on in-person…online stores are so good at making you want to buy from them! 😭

@@katierobinson There is s chanel called LuMi LevelUp I believe, and she talked about her buying an item which come damaged. She tried to complain about it and she needed to make several phone calls, etc. and the only reason she was able to deal with the issue is that she is a youtuber and the negative story she shared about Vestiaire Collective gained traction.
@nin.-26444 ай бұрын
I've been a happy shopper with Vestiaire Collective since around 2017-2018, and I've mostly had great experiences! I tend to focus on quality clothing and vintage accessories, especially shoes, rather than the latest trending pieces. I typically place about 3 to 8 orders a year. At one point, Vestiaire was my go-to shop, right after my local consignment store. Over the last couple of years, I’ve noticed I've been shopping there a bit less often. It seems like they've become really popular, and I’m not finding the same great deals as before. As more people view designer items as investments, sellers have become a bit less flexible with pricing and discounting. I did have one experience with a fake item-a Jacquemus dress that didn't hold up well at all. It looked off once I tried it on, and the tag seemed a bit strange too. Although it passed authentification initially, I sent it back with my concerns, and they quickly refunded me. I've also placed order for items that didn't match their descriptions according to the quality control department, and I was either offered a discount or the option to cancel the purchase entirely. Plus, on the two occasion I ever had a lost package, they were quick to help track it down. Once, I received something I wasn't thrilled about (some small flaws that weren't disclosed in the listing), and they offered to refund me if I returned it, but I decided to keep it and just had a tailor fix it up. I've occasionally sold on VC too and it went well, I always got paid promptly. If you're thinking about shopping at VC, I’d recommend steering clear of whatever’s super trendy at the moment (e.g. those Lemaire bags when they’re all the rage). Checking out the seller’s closet can be really helpful too! Look for variety in their listings-if they’re only selling the latest hits or if the sizes of the items listed vary greatly, it might be a red flag. Also, see if they have a mix of brands rather than just the big names. I totally understand your hesitation, but keep in mind that people often share their negative experiences more loudly than the positive ones. Since VC is such a large platform, there are bound to be mixed reviews. Personally, I'd be cautious about buying non-vintage items from brands like Hermes, Dior, or Chanel, as those can be a bit risky. However, if you're interested in older pieces, up-and-coming designers, or brands that aren't in the spotlight anymore, it's definitely a great place to explore!

16:28 I think governments are taking that approach to avoid having to make the same sustainability requirements of domestic firms. There’s also the risk of legal action (Investor-State Dispute Settlement) depending on the terms of a country’s trade agreements with whichever country is used as a company’s HQ.

curious as to why you feel that way? i think sustainability is a growing topic that more ppl are interested in as economic / climate conditions worsen and we have to face the effect of our lack of action. many laws are now being introduced that will force brands to think about sustainability even if consumers aren't interested. curious as to your thinking, but please stay friendly!
