Kylie - I love to watch you work your creative magic with scraps! I wonder if I could make a mini journal like this and use it for a book of quotes of poetry verses? The colors and textures of this little journal are so rich and beautiful! Love the simple binding and the fabric scrap tabs. Also love that you kept in the fiddling with the raffia and the jammed staple. Keeping it real - and persisting! You're such an inspiration to me. Thank you!

I do love this journal: the colors, the materials, the simplicity of construction, the cohesiveness of the pages. I am definitely inspired! I also loved your comment about just creating a journal as a piece of art in itself. Not every one has to be filled. Thank you.

Thank you for this video, Kylie. I had given up on creating because I just felt I sucked at it. 😢 So discarded all my gelli prints, ephemera, etc. I found your lesson randomly and found it so inspiring. I can feel my creative mojo coming back and am now ready to give it another go. Today I’ll get my gel plate out (thank heavens I didn’t give it away). And I’ll start over. I loved everything you did in this episode. So wonderfully grungy.😊 Thanks again. Blessings 🙏

Oh Michelene, I’m sorry you went through that. If it’s any comfort I think most people feel like that at some point and it can be hard to shake it off - it must have been bad for you when you actually discarded things. I’m glad this particular video has helped you and maybe started to reignite your creative mojo and I do hope that you will restart. I’ve a video that will go up today (Wednesday) that is really just a bit of creative play for the sake of it - I say a bit about not having anything in mind and it just being about tending my creative practice and therefore about the process of creating being the important thing. If you feel inclined then give it a watch. I’ll be thinking about you. If you get a chance then let me know how you get on. 💗🤗

Fascinating! There is more in this tiny book than I can take in during this video. It requires a longer sitting to ponder each page to really and truly appreciate the complexity that is there. I am thinking I need to loosen up and let go of precious...yes, need to work on that! Thank you, once again for a push, a nudge toward thinking about another way of doing art.

This is amazing. Your journal is stunning! When you finished both sides of the Master board and smoothed it out with your hands, I had to smile because I do that. It is like I need to reward myself with feeling the texture of the piece. I have always been crazy about paper! I love it’s look, feel, smell, and the sound it makes! I Love the textile pieces you added, too! The finished book is so exciting! A real treasure just like you! TFS 🙏💞🌷

Really cute...I know you said you aren't great with the sewing machine but I think the little fabric add ons would have looked great if you had put a couple of stitches in each of them. This little project would be great to do with children maybe using comic book characters or get the children to draw pics of animals, etc and then tear up and glue. I love this and will try. Thank you for showing us how to do it.

What a fun little book! I love how you use your “drop sheets” and other “cast-offs” in your projects. I think the page as a whole when cut down into smaller bits is just so fascinating. While it’s fun looking at the little book, I think it would be neat to add the individual squares in a larger journal as tuck spots or pockets. I really like the look of this and it has sparked some ideas for me! TYFS! ❤️🦋💜

Love love this little grungy Journal❤ do you mind sharing what kind of camera you use when you film your videos?
@jenhillesheim582416 күн бұрын
This is very lovely! I tried to make one just like it but my paper became rigid and warped badly once everything was glued down. I used cardstock as my base, so that might have been the problem. What type of paper did you use as your base, Kylie? Thank you for being such an inspiration! You are SO creative!!
@KylieCooStudio12 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind comment. I couldn’t remember what I’d used for this so I watched the video. It was simply a piece of packaging paper - probably paper that was in the box of something I ordered online. So the base was really flimsy but the addition of the collage papers strengthened it. Most of the collage papers were quite thin as well. It might be that the cardstock you used was just a bit too heavy. Hope that helps 💗
@jenhillesheim582412 күн бұрын
@@KylieCooStudioI will try to use thinner papers the next time! I did find that once I adhered more paper to the back side of the cardstock base collage (making it double-sided, like yours)it flattened out! I didn’t realize this-but I guess gluing on both sides cancels (or balances out) the warp! Thank you, again, for sharing your gift 🤗
@KylieCooStudio12 күн бұрын
What I also do sometimes when something is warping is once the glue is dry I will put the paper under my craft mat and that is usually sufficient to flatten it out. 🤗
