With the darkness growing in him being something to really fear. (To bring you the question of if you had a chance to kill a child that would become a mass murderer would you?) Ben/Kylo demanding his grandfathers legacy without understanding it. And if they didn’t fail miserably have Finn begin a storm trooper revolution. No freaking Palpatine. Rey getting her own story independent of a stalker/creep. Instead of sidelining the main characters for his whining just go full scary villain. It would be awesome. His ending was pretty happy- he was redeemed and can now spend eternity with his mother, father, uncle, and Grandfather, and he has the power to return and speak to the one he loves. But I do wish he showed up in the sunset at the end...

And I don´t see death as a happy ending, even in star wars universe. We don´t actually see him as a force ghost in the movie or even meet with his family/loved ones (which pretty much ignored him in his life when he pleaded for their guidance, so yikes). idk, maybe i am just tired how most of the redeemed characters always have to die soon after that redemption.

Mine is basically when Ol' Palpy says "I am ALL the Sith!" and Rey is getting overpowered, Ben grabs the other lightsaber and deflects the lightning with her. "And she is a Jedi, like my grandfather. And WE will finish what he started". With the power of their force dyad, Palpatine is obliterated in boomplosion. Ben looks for Rey, and finds her lifeless body. Then it's the same scene as the movie, they kiss, except this time he doesn't die. Then they rendevous on Tatooine, where the Skywalkers came from. She lays Luke and Leia's lightsabers to rest, and Ben ponders how he will atone for everything he's done. Rey offers him her hand, and he takes it, both finally finding their place in the galaxy. They walk off into the twin suns together. The end. The "rise" implying the Skywalker family's journey is complete.

Hard no. I would have loved a more developed storyline where Rey goes into her own darkness. What was there, was pretty quickly dealt with and forgotten. But a storyline where Ben is offered the chance at redemption after spending almost a decade in the darkness, committing horrific crimes, and Rey wouldn't be given the same chance after turning to the dark for a few days would be awful. Especially since she took an incredible risk to offer Ben that chance. For him to turn around and kill her when she falls would be gross. It would also seem a bit sexist. Like a woman cannot go dark for a few moments and be redeemed, women have to always be nice to be worthy, while a man can spend a decade committing murder and be forgiven. Yikes. Plus, killing either of them was just a terrible idea from a symbolic pov. As a dyad, they kind of symbolise the duality of the human soul, our light and dark and impulses, our life instincts and death instincts, our desire to create and to destroy, our femininity and masculinity. To kill either one signals that we can never become integrated, that we have to destroy part of ourselves in order to be worthy human beings. For Vader to die was okay because he exists in his children. Leia and Luke are both made from him, so in a way he lives on through them and is never erased. His darkness is integrated through them. But with Ben and Rey, once one dies, the other is not made from the lost half. They're just a split self that can never be made whole. So to kill the dark half means that that half is unacceptable. A person can never be selfish, can never be angry, can never desire power for themselves if they want to be worthy of love. By killing Ben, that's what they were unintentionally saying, and by killing a dark Rey, that's what they would be saying too. That's not better. The only endings that would make sense from a symbolic perspective must have them either both living or both dying but leaving a successor to them both alive somewhere (their child or padawan of some kind that integrates both of their teachings).

@@jimmydcriket4086 He, like many other characters from the Sequels, had a lot of potential. And they just kinda took it and threw it away. In some way, his character arc wasn't really finished and then they just kill him off. Leia sarcificing herself for him to turn to the light again, him refusing to kill Rey and even saving her, all the things he went through throughout the course if his life, all these things, and they reward him with death. It's not really a real redemption-arc... So yeah... They could have handled him in a different, much better way. But that's just my opinion so pls don't kill me for it😅

@@strahinjasvorcan5372 It just felt kinda rushed to me At first, he's suddenly all evil again with the Knights of Ren and everything and then he turn to the light and has like not even half a movie left to acually show he's good again. Rey just leaves him after their battle, he sees Han and then we don't get to see him until the very end where almost everything he does is fighting. I heard that they had planned to make TROS a two-part movie, and that would have been better. Like; let him turn back to the light at the end of movie one, and have a light-side-Ben in the second one. That way we would have fully seen his potential as a 'good-guy' character. I just thought that fell a litle short But again; that's just my opinion!

The new Trilogy received a lot of hate. Some well deserved. But kylo ren/ Ben was such a highlight. Had quite a sad story with the force grooming him to the dark side. He was only to be forced into a tragic life because of palpatine. But it was his light that saved him in the end with his connection to Rey and assisting in defeating the emperor. That side of the story was brilliant in my eye. I try to forget the rest. This character for me is one of my favourite in the whole saga. Nice to hear a positive from the star wars universe for once.

@@wayne909 a happy ending with Rey, yes I know he did bad things. But I think it would be a nice change from the endless death we see in star wars. He could've even helped the resistance finish off the first order around the galaxy. If you read the novelisations and the rise of kylo ren comics you see just how unfair Ben's backstory is, he deserved a chance at life imo and rey deserved a chance at really happiness

I don’t think we can ever express enough gratitude and appreciation to Adam Driver to his absolutely INCREDIBLE portrayal of Kylo Ren/Ben Solo. He truly cared for the character and it absolutely shows in the way he played him. Kylo Ren will always be one of my favorite characters of all time. He has suffered so much and yet he endures where many could not...this edit gives Driver and Kylo the respect they deserve; it’s masterful, everything about it thank you

That's because he is a layered character who actually develops throughout the movies. They fool you at first into thinking Kylo is just a Vader obsessive but then they reveal his backstory and the amount of pain he's suffered his whole life, and you realize that he was never a villain by choice.

@Shillyvk Sshilly He was Anakin's grandson, not Vader's. Kylo and Vader were just masks worn by these two Skywalkers in order to hide their vulnerabilities. If you think they were evil villains, you didn't pay attention. Ben Solo just wanted his parents to love him. They feared him because Luke ended up fearing the darkness caused by Palpatine before Ben was born.

Huh? It's a sweet, tender kiss that finally brings out a smile in Ben Solo. A bit of romance was the very least Adam's character deserved after he raced back to Exogol to support her and fuelled every bit of life's energy he had left into reviving Rey.

P.S. That kiss was definitely earned. They had 3 movies of rising sexual tension and then that key quote in The Rise of Skywalker novel: "Rey was his light." The real tragedy is that he was forced to endure the same tragic fate as Anakin, who also was robbed of a future with the woman he loved.

Kylo Ren is definitely the best character in the sequels, at least the one with a better buildup, but i would enjoy if Slyfer could do a tribute like this for Rey or at least, to the dyad in the force between them two, and i must say it, i kind of like Rey's arc, Disney didn't want for her to become a good charater but she has a great potencial! Ben never wanted to be on the Dark Side. It happened through him suffering a lifetime of manipulation, even in Leia's womb, by Snoke aka Palpatine.

@@iluvlafferty he wanted to be named Kylo since he was a kid. Dark Side is a choice, not a possession. He chose poorly because he wanted more power than the Light Side apparently allowed. Just as Anakin, also manipulated by Palpatine. To resist the Dark Side takes strength. He ran to Snoke as a 23 year old, not as a lost child.
