I was messing around with mine tonight and noticed 2 things. If you press on the back of the mic right at the base where it sticks out a little (as it is installed out of the box), just lightly with your finger, most of the distortion and feedback stopped...seems to stop a minute vibration the mic has as it is super sensitive. Second, I wrapped paper towel around the mic and bottom and taped it. Then it sounded amazing with almost no distortion or feedback. I'm still working on a permanent fix but it seems due to the super sensitivity of the mic you need to 1. remove the dish beneath it and 2. wrap the mic with something to dampen and cancel all the frequencies it is picking up. This is what seems to give me the most accurate sound with little to no feedback. Hope this helps.

Randy, I see in the background on your desk what looks to be Kylo Ren costume instructions. You mentioned your costume in another video. May I ask where you got your costume from? I am looking at the XCoser Kylo Ren costume but don't like the scarf/cape. The pattern I see on your desk looks pretty movie accurate, without seeing your actual costume. I'd be interested in seeing your costume, or at least knowing where you purchased yours.

The feedback issue may be resolved by reversing the direction the microphone faces --no duck-tape or part removal is necessary. When attempting this, do not try and pull the microphone out of the cavity by pulling on the red and black wires --you'll likely break the weld. Instead, note that there is a thin cylindrical rubber sheath which the microphone is laying within. Pull up on this sheath and the microphone will come with it. Be careful not to damage the wires when reinserting the microphone backwards into the cavity. I ended up filling a small channel into the plastic to allow additional room for the wiring.

+Anthony Phillips I took parts out to reverse the direction of the mic because it was securely screwed to the same part as the dish. no wire handling or anything. but if that worked for you that's a good idea.

+Randy.M.Greer if you remove all three screws then you can open the mic housing and reverse the microphone itself, not just the housing as you have done. This will allow the mask to retain its original look rather than having to plaster duck tape and bubblegum throughout.

New Kylo Ren (Space Villain Voice Changer) version has a slightly improved voice for Kylo Ren - more static/radio touch to it. And better Speak samples (we tried to avoid using the exact dialog).

I just took mine completely apart, cutting it up to make a more screen accurate piece and cut the voice changer out. I have a complete separate voice system.

I'm a bit angry after buying one since each review says the mic is very sensitive and loud (mine is very quiet) and it has a very bad paint job (chrome looks more greyish). I'll stick with my $30 Disney one.
