Just changed the oil on my Agility125.....super simple! Thanks for the instructional video! I had to buy some kitty litter as well.......spilled the old oil like a bone head.
@nd1996mn15 жыл бұрын
No, I just use regular 15W-40. Some people will argue for synthetic, but I figure frequent changes are probably more important--especially considering that there's no oil filter.

@simple9rts Thanks! It's always nice to hear that these videos are helping people perform the routine maintenance themselves. And it's a good way to save a few bucks. You've bought a great scooter--enjoy it! Ride safely.

@TonyFirelli Yes. Since there isn't a real oil filter (just that screen) I figure it's better to change it often. Your owners manual should list the recommended interval for your bike.
@nd1996mn15 жыл бұрын
Good for you! And thanks for the compliment. I've been making these whenever my scooter needs work, so there should be more coming--probably a belt replacement if I ride enough this year. For now, there is also gear oil change, valve adjustment, and winterizing. Thanks!
@nd1996mn13 жыл бұрын
@gwapito1815 Hello. The oil you used should be fine. For the scooter, the engine oil is only used to lubricate the engine components. On most motorcycles, that oil also lubricates the transmission clutch, which is why you see special motorcycle oil (and why you shouldn't use car oil in a motorcycle). But for your scooter, the Castrol should be fine. Be sure to check your oil level to ensure it didn't leak out!

How do I know on the dipstick the correct level of oil? I am beginning to do the oil change just need to be sure
@nd1996mn Жыл бұрын
There are marks on the dipstick. It should be between those. Some models do not have a dipstick so you may have to measure the oil before putting in.
@nd1996mn15 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! Is the break in the cap, or the actual stick? If it were me, I would NOT glue the dipstick together. Even if it holds up to the temp, the movement of the oil or a bump in the road might break it loose. You do not want a loose piece of anything flying around in the engine! I would order order a replacement part. If it's a crack in the cap, gluing it might work...but I still would get a new one. Enjoy your bike!!

Hi. Thanks! I don't think it matters. I open both sides only because I don't know what it looks like inside. There could be a ridge in middle of the pan which would prevent *all* the oil from draining out if you only opened one side. But I don't know for sure--I do it just to be safe. Next time I'll try the screen first, let it drain, then open the drain bolt and see if there is anything left.

Thanks! good video. I am not mechanically savvy but I feel with this tutorial Even I could master this. Also I now understand what I'm paying someone else to do. I like that.
@nd1996mn12 жыл бұрын
Hi! I'm sure it's fine. Worst case, there might be a little bit of old oil that doesn't drain out (it would depend on the shape of the case--if there was a low spot that only was drained from one side, you could have a bit of residual trapped there if you didn't open that side). Even if that's the case, it wouldn't be a big deal.
@nd1996mn13 жыл бұрын
@adiv1313 Hi. I think you would be fine with 10w-40. My manual says 15w-40, which is what I've been using without any problems so far. I'm no expert, but these things run all over the world, sometimes on bad/dusty roads and other less-than-ideal conditions, and they are fine (because they're kymco :-). I'm guessing the exact oil weight isn't critical.
@nd1996mn13 жыл бұрын
@nicholas33309 I was using Chevron Delo. I think it was 15W-40.

@adiv131313 жыл бұрын
Hi, I lost the manual and I emailed Kymco to ask them what oil to use. They recommend 10w-50. Would that work for this scooter. I live in GA but I don't ride during the winter. I guess it won't hurt to get the oil faster into the engine when starting it up, but want to double check with and make sure. oh, and thanks for the video. it's awesome.
@nd1996mn12 жыл бұрын
Hi. In the weight recommended by the manual (I think it's 15-40?), my local auto store only carries Delo brand, so that's what I use. Personally, I don't think it matters much, especially if you are changing it every 1,000 miles. I have not done a video on the brake fluid change--usually I put these together as I do the work on my own scoot. I haven't had to change the brake fluid yet.
@nd1996mn14 жыл бұрын
@CAPTBORG For the two stroke, I assume you are talking about the Super9? I don't think they make a two-stroke Super 8. Either way, I think you'd be happy with either. I hear a lot of good things about the Super 9--it's a pretty quick scoot. I'd try to ride each and see which you prefer.

I need help! I have a 50cc Kymco cobra scooter and I'm confused about the engine oil. I've heard that you should mix gasoline with oil for 2 stroke engines, but I didn't see you do that. Will I potentially hurt my scooter if I only added oil? btw I need API-TC certified oil (I'm using QuickSilver Marine 2-stroke) Thanks

Hi, do you recommend cordless impact drill for the bolts?
@nd1996mn12 күн бұрын
No. That is more than you need for these and would make them too tight and maybe damage it. Might be OK for loosening them only. I would recommend using a handheld wrench or ratchet instead of an impact driver.

Hello! nd1996mn ^^ I just wanna ask, why you didn't directly drain the oil from the oil filter screen? instead you use the opposite bolt the drain bolt? is there anything wrong if you directly drain the oil from the oil filter screen?. Because that is how I did it every time i change oil.. Please lighten up my mind...Thanks ^^ Your videos are great! ..
@nd1996mn14 жыл бұрын
@roconnor09 Hi! Thanks. I change it about every 1000 miles. It's only about a quart of oil so it only costs a few bucks to do it.

Is it ok to use a torque wrench on a warm crank case?
@nd1996mn6 жыл бұрын
Adrian Rubi i think so. There isn’t much torque on the drain bolt and it’s usually cooled off by the time you are putting the plug back in.

Hey curious if anyone can answer this. I did my oil change on my super but do I fill the oil to full when the bike is on its scooter stand or when it has both wheels on the ground and is level. It seems to make a significant difference in the amount of oil on the dipstick.
@nd1996mn8 жыл бұрын
Check it when the bike is level. It's easiest to put it on the center stand to do this.
@ElloBoppit8 жыл бұрын
Perfect, i'll do that. Thanks man!

is it okay to drain directly from the screen cap?
@nd1996mn6 жыл бұрын
Manuel Luis Catanduanes yes, it just might not get all the old oil out (I think the hole for the drain bolt sits slightly lower). Probably not enough to do any harm though.

Je fais comment pour savoir si le scooter est 4T ou 2t
@nd1996mn4 жыл бұрын
Le Maître This one is a 4T. If you have an oil drain bolt and fill hole (with measuring stick) as shown in the video it should be a 4T. You do not change the oil on a 2T.

I have been changing the oil on the plug side beneath instead of the bolt. Is there a reason to change it from the bolt side? Thanks for the tip now I know why the plug was wrecked because I didn't use a 6point socket :(
@nd1996mn9 жыл бұрын
It doesn't make much difference. It will drain from either.

nd1996mn Ah I see. Thanks. Cheers
@manuelluiscatanduanes41796 жыл бұрын
theres the anwer to my question.. I guess the only advantage in draining from the drain bolt first is you will make less of a mess..since the flow of oil will be harder to control draining out of the large hole of the screen cap..my first worry is that i may not have drained most of the oil..
