As an F1 photographer I’m often asked, “How much would it cost to go to attend an F1 race”, “What’s the cheapest F1 Grand Prix”, “What’s the most expensive F1 Grand Prix” or “How much would it cost to go to every F1 race?”
Well, I can tell you firsthand that F1 travel is not cheap and in this video, I’ll tell you everything you’ll need to budget for to spend an entire year following the F1 schedule, I based it on the 2022 F1 schedule. From flights, hotels and tickets, to food, transport and travel insurance, there’s a lot of expenses you’ll have to consider for each F1 race you wish to attend, plus I’ve budgeted for 2 different ends of the spending spectrum.
So, get your pen and paper ready because there’s a lot of F1 logistics and travel planning to think about before you book your year-long adventure attending every F1 race in a season. Here’s how much would it cost to go to every F1 race in a season!

Thanks Kym. Think you're better off buying a campervan for the European races and driving to those races. Once your done with the van you can flog it off. Would love to see a teams travel budget.... One of the most overlooked expenses the teams have. Wish they had Malaysia on the calendar, that was usually a bargain from an Aussie perspective.

That is ridiculous. I used to work on yachts in Fort Lauderdale for quite a few years and it would be nothing for the owner to spend $80,000 on a paint job or $50,000 on new bed sheets for the yacht. I'm going to have to struggle and save for the next 2 years just to go to a single Grand Prix. I have been watching formula once since 1997 and I still haven't gone to a race that is one of the top things on my bucket list... someday it will happen 😁

@@TillURide420 oh trust me I know I have spent 6 years around Miami and Fort Lauderdale and I had to get the hell out of there ASAP. I was making $3,000 a month and only had to pay $500 a month for bills because I was living on the boats that I worked on so $2,500 a month would go to drugs and partying. I would rather go to the Canadian Grand Prix or Texas. I now live in Virginia so looks like Canada is the better choice 😁

I have attended 3 races (including Monaco & barcelona) plus testing and agree with the cheaper prices. We always go for general admission tickets which allow roaming anywhere around the circuit on the Friday (except Monaco). Take our own picnic for the day to save money and use public transport. Its often cheaper to get flight around the Wednesday before the race and the Wednesday after the race and stay in an air b and b. Love this review Kym as it is our dream when retired to follow each race for a year. Would love to see some reviews of the super expensive paddock club areas.

Great video Kym. I've been to Monza, Imola, and Austin. All three have been enjoyable experiences. However, Austin was a nightmare to get out of the track and back into the city (the uber line was around three hours wait). Imola was by far the easiest. We just trained it in from Bologna. But be careful, the trains getting out of Imola after the race were a madhouse. This year at Monza, we just trained it in from Verona, which was less than two hours.

Hi Kym. Before watching your video I did the exercise because I have some experience traveling to Formula One circuits. So we corresponded in everything except the price of food and car rental. Food gave me 4,000 euros a year and Car rental also gave me 4,000 euros since I prefer the comfort that free movement gives me at any time of the day or night. My total of the year was 26.000 euros. Hi Kim! You are right in Mexico City you can expect to pay the same as any European city in food and accommodation on the higher end of the espectrum. If you want cheaper accommodation stay away from anything on Reforma. Hotels in the southern side of the city cheaper and you can be at the track in 30- 40 min without traffic.

Living in the US and going to the USGP used to only cost a couple thousand in total, with flights and grandstand tickets. One year later, with Miami and Vegas being added, I'm guessing attending a US race is no longer going to be a realistic option for a middle class family making 100-200k a year.

As mental as it sounds it doesn’t sound to bad… 60k ish to have mostly GA tickets some GS at your fav tracks, Non Budget Airline flights (not Business class) and 4/5 star hotels and and restaurant food. If you were to be successful in your career, retiring or taking a sabbatical to do this is certainly achievable, especially if you get some kind of inheritance or redundancy payout etc…

Thank you Kym. Your content is always so entertaining and I really want to go to Las Vegas next year. I live in the US so we currently have 2 Grand Prix in Miami and Austin with Las Vegas next year. I hope I get to go to a race as I am a huge F1 fan!

Im an old aussie guy, my entire life ive gotten up at ridiculous hours of the night to watch them peddle around. Its taken me along time to work out F1 is a rich mans sport, like yachting or polo. I brainwashed myself that it was a normal sport. Heres the problem, being an old aussie guy im egalitarian. This means i rile at wealth and displays of it. Our western life has been brainwashed with aspirational pyschology. Thats constantly self improving, get more, do more at all costs...every study shows aspirational psychology leads to social isolation, cutting off people who dont lift you up, unhappiness and spending more. Its a corporate strategy that appeared post 50s. The same time all the military guys went back into the workforce bring in army heirarchy and middle management...what im trying to say is - while i love the insight videos like this do - the access and the inside info is why i watch. Not how much hotel rooms are or what first class is like on swanky-air (yes we all get its a good business model to horizontally diversify into a reviewer). i love the access you get. Thats why i watch this channel. Photography captures moments. Thats why it will always be of value, it can freeze in time a feeling or a look that video cant. Thats what i want more of, we see so little of your shots.... Class is never something to worship. It makes for unpalatable viewing. Maybe coz im aussie (we used to be egailitian but we have the UK class structure and US wealth worship here now)... I just want to go back to being that 10 year old kid in love with F1 who would set my alarm at 2am and get up and watch SPA with the volume low... I miss that.

The austin top end ticket prices are missing a zero, should be 5000 not 500. The cheepest grandstand are now in the $700s for the 3 day

I don't think anyone will purchase a grand stand ticket for 360€ and then spend 750€ on bussines class. A 360€ grand stand ticket is better balanced with flying in economy. On the other hand, I think the meal prizes are quite off. If you have to eat at the circuit you will be spending a lot of money on meals.

Hiya Kym, does F1 do an all race access ticket option? All access Paddock club cost for the season would be scary 😮
@soisaidtogod4248

Paddock club is like 10-12 thousand per race, times 22. Don't forget air fare.

You’re living in dreamland if you think you’re going to get some of those airfares. Even the economy fares will likely be 3-5 times those numbers.

This might be a big ask of you Kym, but would you be able to make a video explaining how much on average Formula 1 makes from fan attendance of each race? For example if there are 200,000 or 300,000 people showing up, with all of the differrnt ticket prices combined and how much revenue goes to Formula 1 or something like that??

Unfortunately modern GPs are designed to be viewed by a TV audience. So ... if you get a general admission ticket and cannot see a video screen on the other side of the track, you won't know what the heck is going on. Why has a car suddenly gone from 3rd to 13th? Did it spin, get a change of tires, etc. If you're a petrol head and are content to see cars going past making a lot of noise, then maybe general admission is OK. Otherwise, forget it.
