The first two weeks in the game is mostly just a tutorial or introduction to the world and various systems. Once you age up at the end of the two weeks, it opens up a lot more. You can do more stuff, explore the world, romance, buy and run shops, continue the story, venture into the woods for combat, etc. You never have to sleep after the first two weeks when you're a child.

@@thaddeusii2142 Something they did away from Early Access is how dark the game can be. For example, unwanted spouses could be sacrificed by burning them alive every few years.

For anyone wondering, the combat is nothing like Stardew valley. It's a bit more strategic and focuses on stamina regeneration and positioning. From screenshots it looks like turn based, but it's not.

I’ve been playing this since it got released, and have been absolutely loving it. It’s crazy beautiful, the lore is deep and rich and really reflects the beauty and fear fae things invite. The aging mechanic is also amazing. The family aspect is a bit underwhelming as the bachelors and bachelorettes aren’t exciting and hopefully will be reworked (all female bachelorettes are ~10 years older than you, bachelors are better). The big difference between this and a stardew is that while stardew is more about grinding and optimization, this game is much more focused on exploration and unraveling the mysteries of the area. Super pumped about it and hope people check it out!

The rhymes you've been finding lying around are actually helpful: they give you info on how to obtain certain items (the one you found was how to turn a normal apple into a gassy one). They also can tell you how to get better quality stuff, like where and when to pick certain items for more stars!

“Pig Maserati” is what pushed me into buying this. Great video as always Splat. Love seeing the old Fable crew still making fun stuff. I remember spending a stupid amount of time doing jobs/chores in Fable to earn money and loving that system. Great to see it reborn!

Bonus points: you can get pigs with better stats which run even faster. Excellent speed has you literally zooming around the map so fast you can't make corners properly XD

i got this game on early acces but i waited till release to play, i like it a lot. You can buy stores, get employes, or just focus on exploration and combat and sell stuff to the shops, or use an stall in the market for a few hours to sell yourself. Felt the days advanced too fast, but that can be fixed easily changing how much the day last on a file on the steam folder, i hope devs add the options to settings later.

Thanks for that tip. Played a few days and put it down when they felt too fast, but it's literally just a value in an XML file and easily changed, along with basically everything else. It's a modder's dream.

Most of the Rhymes you find are usefull, they tell you where you can find things and how you can get better stars on your crops etc. You can reread everything you find in your Inventory

A raid on Twitch introduced me to this game and I didn't really think nothing of it, but when I saw it here today I was like "oh it's that one game. Splatty's playing it? ...huh" and when you said it was made by some of the devs from Fable and showed the mini games I knew I had to scoop it up. I'm not generally an impulse buyer but something about this just clicked. Downloading it atm. Also, I'm pretty sure I ain't seen you play it, but on the same vain of Stardew (but with an Australian twist) I'd love to see you check out Dinkum. I'll scoop it up eventually anyway, but would love to see your impressions on it.

Those creepy statues somewhat resemble "The Green Man" which is a very old legendary being, associated with Spring, and rebirth. Associated with nature, rebirth, and sometimes fertility. There are MANY different representations of The Green Man. Some of them can look a little frightening.

You might want to check out Wildermyth. A fantastic tactical RPG with procedurally generated storytelling, but the main reason I mention it is that heroes age and retire, passing quests along to their children.

I'm not sure about in the game, but I think those wooden faces that old people used to have (my grandma also had one) were supposed to be the Green Man. I think I remember being told that a long time ago, at least.

Dang, and I even had Kynseed on my buylist. It looks a ot better than Stardew Valley. But I REALLY can't deal with timed mini-games. Did really wish for an alternative to SV, and this one even has Fable's mechanics of aging, but "thanks" to those mini-games, this one drops out now.

One thing that triggers me is when pixelart games use high res artworks for their intros, like Kynseed does (Chained Echos for example doesn't and it just feels right). The beauty of old games is that everything is in one style and pixelart artworks and intro sequences can look fantastic.

The "Kyn" in Kynseed is pronounced Kin...as in Kith and Kin...hence the ancestory angle of your character. At least that's what I take it as.

Encountered quite a problem while playing the game Currently I'm able to reliably farm simplewood up to 4th danger level and... I see no way to progress in combat I've got 4 stars iron and copper sword, 3-combo skill, 4-star tin armor and charm and I do not see any way in which I could increase damage output All of this in 1 year after prologue Do I have to go for a child? Will this allow me to get better stats? Because right now it seems like i'm stuck with no way to buy new skills, as getting the items for them requires going to middlewoods at least

There are stats for you and the npcs, I believe you'll be able to influence your child's stats too but haven't gotten that far yet
