I remember a couple of years ago, when I first started Kyokushin... my teacher told me about this kick in class, and I asked if I could try it firsthand. He obliged, then told me to stand still, saying that he would go light. When his heel struck my thigh, I thought my leg had disappeared. The pain was absolutely unbearable, and I was unable to stand for a few minutes until I finally had enough strength to get back up again. This kick is very effective - it is difficult to block and it hurts like hell. Even better is that you can set it up for further techniques - one of my favourite moves is to throw this kick a few times, pretend to do the same kick by lifting up my shin, then throw a body shot with the opposite hand. Your opponent is left constantly guessing where you will attack from.

I have never seen this kick. I love the combo, I'll practice this and see if I can implement it into my kickboxing sparring. Osu.

I tried it in sparring and it is actually harder to block than a classic low kick, love it even if it less powerful it landed everytimes and can still be very painful.

is that what they call "mikazuki geri" or crescent kick in karate circle?
@forgottensailor20066 жыл бұрын
Yes but this is a hybrid variation of it since it involves sinking striking with the heel instead of the blade edge of the foot. Not sure what you would it call it so I'd just stick with Mikazuki geri..

I know these kyokushin combos you show are all about maximizing the use of one side because everyone sees the usual "left-right-left-right' coming, but why focus on the rear? Wouldn't lead arm-and-leg combos be faster and easier?

I like the idea, but it looks way too telegraphed to work, even though he is fast. I'm going to try it being a KK myself, but it looks easy to dodge imo
