I have to agree with you! I am in love with this and for a change it does not bother me at all that it is taking a good amount of time to get it finished. Normally I am chomping at the bit to get the build done and wrapped up in a week. I think because I want this one to be so nice I am not rushing it at all, which is another nice feeling. I hope to get it painted this weekend so hopefully the finished product video will be coming up soon!

The plastic on the sway bars is notorious for cracking! I was able to install mine without cracking by warming the plastic up slightly before hand. 👍 Agree with you on the front bumper - aside from offering a bit more protection if you plan to run it, the bumper just looks "old school" and in keeping with the rest of the buggy.

This one is really nice! Looks great with all the gold on it! I watched Kai City RC's video with this buggy a while ago, I sort of got a bit hooked on it, I liked the metallic gray paint scheme on his. For the red, you can do all kinds of cool stuff with red to achieve some depth. Just use some scrap lexan and play around. I like painting transparent layers first (some brands call then candy colors), and the add white or black or silver to achieve some textures in it... But definitely paint on scraps first, but you know that! Have a good one there, buddy!

@@AddamsPlayground The Ferrari Red with the Pearl White do great but don’t forget to back them correctly which I am sure you already know and do. I also recommend painting the area behind the driver and the front A pillars black rather than using the decals. I also added a few more Gold bits and a carbon fiber upper deck which I also highly recommend. My electronics are Castle with a Sidewinder esc for which I drilled holes in my carbon fiber deck to allow the wires to run through. As far as steering is concerned you can see I used a Protek 160SS which work and matches beautifully but what is really important is to replace steering with a metal one because it breaks easily and it connects the servo arm to the steering control arms. I know your feeling. Go to RC store come back with tooo much. Luckily my two daughters love the hobby too and enjoy building their own buggies and other RC’s. Beautifully edited video mate, loved the morphing of the photos. 👌 This (and all of the kyosho legendary series) are such a delightful piece of engineering! And, trust me, they are a joy to drive.... even up against more modern cars. They are so smooth and well planted. Yes, the plastic diff cap is close to the sway bar.... but you should find just enough clearance once on. Good call on the undertray, it's a must to protect all the lovely gold underbelly. 100 % agree regarding the big bumper, like you I first fitted the small one, but soon changed to the long one- it gives it that proper vintage look, and some much needed protection of the front arms. The body shell is a little brittle, and particularly weak around the rear end.... I've just ordered a second one as I actually split it on my first run! 😬 But hey, that's my fault for doing a triple roll after getting carried away! 🤣 It would be an absolute pleasure seeing this go round your cool track once the weather improves bud! 😊 👍 👍 👍 👍

Thanks Craig! It went together perfectly and it looks so great all golden and shiny. This one actually broke the 'no cars in the house' rule and has been sitting in the office all week just so I can see the beauty of it! I am sure the sway bar link is something I can find fairly easily. When it clicked into place I could tell it did not feel like the other side when it clicked into place, sure enough it cracked! It is a extremely minor issue. Now I am curious as to what is stashed away in OAG HQ over there! LOL!

I vote for big bumper, and I’m really loving ps34 for red
@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
Yeah the little bumper just seems off to me on there. I did pick up some of the ps34 last night and will do some test painting this afternoon. It will more than likely be a red but I did grab another color to maybe go far far from it! who knows!

I feel like Homer when he see's donuts!!!! That's RC Porn if I ever seen it. A chassis protector (Tamiya sells sheets of it that can be cut to fit, and it's removeable) might be a good idea before the first run. that had to be a fun build. Great job Addam & Awesome Video!!!!

It is a beauty for sure!! I have the lexan under stray to go on it to protect the chassis. Anything that might be exposed I will put some thing over it to protect it when taking it out for a run! I got the electronics in it last weekend but unfortunately did not have tie to get it painted so it is still in the works. Thanks for all the support Bob!

I got mine from Tower Hobbies when they had them in stock. Sadly it seems they are out of stock pretty much everywhere. Tower states the next shipment will be in October so I am not sure if any are going to hit retailers between now and then. One things I can fault Kyosho for is never being able to keep up with the demand for their Legendary series (and other as well). Tamiya is slow at time for getting things restocked but Kyosho is always behind. The kit is a masterpiece though so I highly recommend getting one when you can get a chance. You can check with Amain fairly often as it seems every now and then they get small batches of kits in here and there. I quickly checked all my regulars online shops and everyone is out of stock! It will worth the wait!

Hey Addam curious on how that o'ryan motor handles and what your impressions are? Only seeing them for sale in Europe Did you pick that up stateside?
@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
I have not run it yet, still need to paint the body! I got this one from eBay and it came from Germany. I have not seen any in the states either. I really need to quit dragging my feet and get this one done so I cam run it and see who it does!

@@AddamsPlayground thanks Addam. Yes that's where I'm seeing them also. I do have a few kyosho projects and thinking of motor selections to put in them. The kyosho stuff can be so pricey and I certainly can not throw a Tamiya silver can in there lol !!!
@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
@@alexwenzel6932 yeah, the Kyosho motors are grossly overpriced. I have used the Tamiya GT tuned in the Tomahawk and I think the Turbo Scorpion. It does really well in them and tons of torque and speed. It may be a little weird to have a Tamiya powered Kyosho but all you really see is the end bell so nobody will even know!!

Can you even buy this kit anymore? Thoughts?
@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
I have not seen them in stock anywhere lately but they are still making them and just need to get more sent over. I do not understand why Kyosho has such a problem with delays on products. Even before the whole covid thing they were regularly out of stock on popular cars. I guess they build what they can and send them out when the can. I think they tend to over focus on the Mini-z market but maybe that is just what stays in stock the longest. I wish I had an answer for why they are so slow but they will be back in stock, probably fairly soon.
@alfredyost7972 Жыл бұрын
@@AddamsPlayground Yes, I wonder why that is? Lucky for me I already got one. Thanks

@@alfredyost7972 Why Kyosho can't build enough cars goes right up there with why doesn't Tamiya bring back some of the desperately requested kits like the Falcon and the King Cab and how many licks does it take to get to the center of the Tootsie pop! LOL!!! We will probably never know!

@@AddamsPlayground I would not be surprised if Tamiya did a re-release the King Cab. I would buy one. Trucks are very popular right now. It seems that this might be the perfect time to do it. Thoughts?

@@alfredyost7972 I think if they re-released it that it would probably crash websites with people flocking to order one, two or more of them! I would certainly get one and I do have an original but would love to have a new one to be able to bomb around without worrying about old plastics!

Hey Addam, I’ve been studying some Kyosho Optima builds, I’ve noticed that the diffs step states place diff oil of 5000 - 30,000 wt, what weight did you use?, I could see in your build guide, maybe I missed it though 😂😂best wishes to you and the family 😊😊
@AddamsPlayground4 ай бұрын
The kit comes with the diff oil included I believe. I honestly cannot recall though, I know in the online manual states it is sold separately but I was pretty sure it came with a small bottle of oil for the diff. I would probably go with 7-10K in the front and 10-15K in the rear. I wish I could tell you what I set mine up with but I rarely write any of that down, I really should but even if I did I'd probably loose the notebook! LOL!!
