I blame it on you that I have now purchased and built every re-re 4wd Optima, all equipped with the Legendary ESCs and motors and Marwan's reproduction tires. When my wife finds them all in the closet, I'm giving her your contact information - LOL. Thank you for lighting that fire in me - I am really enjoying this. I didn't have a clue that Kyosho was re-releasing these kits until I discovered your videos. I wish I could shake your hand sir!

great video , and love your fix up style so it keeps the car nice and 80,s with just a quick clean/detail/body/rims/wheels with out spending 1 million on every new part and nothing left for the original , keeps it looking like it just came from a time warp machine from the track ,love it

Good job Glenn. Car would always sit lower with the gear in it 😃 I had one when they were new BITD, had good fun and success with it. Really looking forward to being able to grab some re-release parts for mine. Oh, here’s a quick story you’ll get a laugh from. Friend owned a hobby shop. I was a mechanic, and so he asked me if I had a real car to sell him. Managed to source a sweet Triumph Dolomite, which he was desperate to get from me (I think I paid my usual hundred quid for it) But he being the business man, he says, hey, take your pick of any RC car and we can swap. Lucky me, he just got in the Optima Mid Custom Special! Yes please. Loved that car, still got one today. I would run it (indoors, BIG games hall) with kit front wheels and tires all around! It had great grip and balance.

Nice one! I am doing my own Mid resto now so the timing (and inspiration) is great. Need to get a wing mount so hopefully that will be available with the re re. Keep the reminiscing coming - we like the stories!
Have no real words for this Glenn, I've never owned a kyosho as im a tamiya man like your self but this thing is soooo from my era just based on looks, these buggys from this era are so pleasing to the eye, I don't know why modern buggys have the driver cab more towards the front as they don't look nice imo .You've done a fantastic job on this mate it looks fantastic, I really want to buy the re-re of this. PS u always tell yourself off in some of these videos for reminiscing but I think all your subscribers including myself would really like to hear some story's from the past as we all too have our memories. My goodness Glenn ye know when you had the car nose facing camera, with gold shocks all around, and the silver shock towers etc, I got goosebumps because it shot me back like lightning to wayyy back as a 14 yr old kid drooling over my Kyosho Turbo burns 1/8 Nitro Buggy!!?? Google the 'turbo burns if you don'y know what i'm talking about and you'll understand why I see such similarities mate!? I bought the Turbo Burns, then had to save up again to buy engine, wheels, tyres, maifold, exhaust, servos, starter box, etc etc etc!! LOL. But my goodness mate when I had that bare chassis without aforementioned parts, I was beyond happy mate!! Thanks as always my friend!! Wes, Liverpool UK.

Looks really nice Glenn. Yea Marwan's gear is pretty good, I really need to get a few sets of those tyres. Personally, I would've painted the wheels in gloss white but if you do end up getting better ones it won't matter so much. Just be sure to get the proper standard Mid wheels, not the Turbo ones. If you wanted to get the gear cover (looks to be the Team Blue Groove version) looking more original you could paint it with Tamiya tint paint (haven't used it myself but apparently it works well with gear and belt covers). Really looking forward to the Mid re-release coming out, I like the idea of the stronger plastic wing instead of lexan.

Very nice work. I really like everything you done. Although I raced CAT's bitd, I always admired the Mids. Today I have a few Mids in the collection and I think they are among the top ten best looking vintage buggies. I have a re-release on pre-order. So I reckon you've install internal spacers in the shocks so the car rests as it would with full motor, battery and electronics weight (arms level). Anyway, do you display your RC's resting on their wheels and, if so, how do you prevent flat spots on the tires? Enjoyed the video very much. Great work my friend!! 😊

Very nice . Great to see a car not over restored but put back to a very nice condition. That’s just what I would have done with it. Will look great sitting with your Optima Pro a real piece of the 80s to sit and look at. Any plans for an Ultima to compete the big three from Kyosho from that 86/87/88 period.
@davidchapman56942 жыл бұрын
Forgot to say ,the reason the side decals don’t fit like on the box is the body is different on the box to what was in the kit. The box art body is more like the optima pro than the Optima mid body. The side window is missing the bubble and the side pods are much closer to the rear shock I guess the box picture was of the prototype with a modified Optima pro body like the cars which ran at the 87 worlds
