That is part of the Zen practice. The teacher does that to awaken the student from slumbering during the meditation.

Matt, you've got such a great vioce for narration! Besides the cool stops and info, Charly did a perfect job as usual. Brightness was adjusted astonishingly well even though you've had insides as well as outsides with different weather conditions. Look forward to every next videos, stay safe!

Again awesome video but still pointless to publish now because no one can visit Japan and borders may stay closed for a very long time. It'd be better to publish once people can actually VISIT the place. Otherwise it is just cruel to show off what you cannot have!
Was really looking forward to discovering something about Kyoto, but I’m left wanting. Is there a budget issue in your productions that you can’t include local experts who can add to the content? Unless the food is exceptional or highly specialised we don’t need to see you eating crème brûlée. Spend the time with a Japanese person who can explain the art scene, the garden architecture, meditation practice. This was sadly quite banal despite great cinematography and editing. Technically this channel is excellent but it falls short on depth or the presenters giving any personal reflections to camera that can give the episodes energy and charisma. 6/10.

Fabulous video content and attention to aesthetics. I am concerned about your lack of mask wearing throughout... it seems certainly not mindful of the safety of the Japanese people. I'm not convinced in your description of taking masks off when speaking and social distancing. I feel as someone so mindful, you should be wearing a mask as a sign of respect and as a guest in this country. It shouldn't be to make your video look better but actually stand for the importance of mask wearing. Nothing you can say will speak louder in your defence than wearing a mask when in public areas, when the man was putting the AR gear on you, and especially in the meditation setting.
