I think this might be a Geiko rather than a Maiko. You can generally regonize it by the hair. Geiko's wear wigs and Maikos use their real hair. In the end for example the ones with accessories in their hair are Maikos. And their Kimonos are also more patterns and colourful than a Geiko's.

@@foureyedsnake244 There's no way to tell from this particular piece. She is in costume there, performing as a fictional character. She is wearing neither maiko nor geiko hair or dress. In some of the skits, some of the geiko are even dressed as stylized men.

Nice to see young ladies here, upholding the tradition. Geisha is a declining profession (or at least it was ten years ago when I heard), but it would be a good opportunity for an artsy woman who's steadfast on not marrying. I hope the gentlemen always treat them right.

I would love to see this live someday, along with a live Kabuki performance. I will add that I would LOVE to experience an actual full version of a tea ceremony and bathing ritual or Onsen. This is such a calming culture. Nothing like the loudness and roughness of Hispanic culture experienced here in South Florida. I think it is due the hardship of busy life in Japanese cities that causes such a rise in demand for more relaxed activities and entertainment venues throughout time. Can't blame them. It is too busy and too much going on for people to slow down and just take things in. For them time off is well spent, even if it is just looking at a sand garden or a blossom tree.
