I love the musicless videos (even now when there was music it was really tasteful) and subtitled commentaries that you do. You truly get to know what travelling in Japan really feels like. I've been on this train many times and I gotta say I think it's one of my favourite express trains in Japan. I enjoyed the views of the countryside and Lake Biwa, I enjoyed the fast speed of this train, the train looks cool, and most of all I enjoyed the announcement chime.

There’s an even faster Thunderbird train that departs in the morning (Thunderbird #9) After leaving Kyoto, the train only stops at Fukui and Kanazawa, making it the truly fastest non Shinkansen train in japan (average speed 100+km/h)

"Due to heavy snowfall the train is delayed 4 minutes" - tell that to anyone in UK and their mouth would drop open: heavy snowfall = complete cancellation ... One or two leaves on the line = major disruption. Even everything going fine, trains are often late.

I really enjoy your videos. I fell in love with Japan 11 years ago. 4 years takes me to go there because of school. When I start working on my vacation I visited Japan. I was there 3 times already. My friend recommended me Yama-dera (I heard there is temple located in mountains)but I haven't chance to go there yet. Please keep traveling so I will watch it and my heart will be less broken 🥰

Luvly!! I did the Thunderbird, Kanazawa to Kyoto. Take me back!! Travelling the trains around Japan (Green Class) was when you could really relax the most (besides in an onsen) and enjoy. Thanks for the great video presented so nicely. I'd take that sushi too!

Great video. I took the same trip in the fall of 2018. I love Japan, especially the trains and landscapes. I have visited more than ten times since 2001. Everything is so clean and well-maintained, Japanese people treat public spaces with respect. Here in the US trains are often dirty and in bad repair 😟. I am jealous of Japan!

I got to take a bullet train from Tokyo to Kanazawa and back (a few days later) in 2018. It was amazing. My country doesn't have bullet trains and the area where I live doesn't have mountains. And of course, no rice paddies or Japamese architecture lol. Japan is a beautiful country!

I've been on the Thunder Bird a few years ago. I remember it being a smooth and quiet ride to Kyoto from Kanazawa. I especially enjoyed the view over Lake Biwa.

It again made me homesick of Japan. 3 years ago i took the same thunder bird from Tokyo to kanazawa leaving from platform 0 which is an odd number for a platform. I am missing the clean on-time trains running throughout Japan. My next trip to Japan is scheduled for next year. By the way, you are playing the piano music, right?

Yeah, but the entire nation of Japan isn't as large as the State of California. A rail system like Japan's simply would not work in California. Tokyo's subway/rail system would never work in the greater Los Angeles area. The population density of Tokyo and Japan are much higher than what is found in L.A. or California. The geography is completely different and nothing can change that fact.

I've only taken this train once in my life, but in the other direction (on one of my Japan trips I had to fly Los Angeles-Taipei-Komatsu outbound and take this train to Osaka because I was using frequent flyer miles and no seats were open on the nonstop LA-Osaka or even through Tokyo) and this really brings back memories.
