Shabdanbek Ismailov and Tattygul Borubaeva's village has been experiencing the devastating consequences of climate change, particularly water extremes such as floods and landslides, for several years now. Due to the frequent occurrence of these events, their family has been forced to leave his home and become a climate migrants.
Through this story, we explore the impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities in Kyrgyzstan and the need for action to mitigate its effects. We also examine how water extremes, such as floods and landslides, are becoming more frequent and severe due to climate change in Kyrgyzstan. Finally, we highlight the importance of addressing climate change to prevent further displacement and suffering for people in Kyrgyzstan and beyond.
