They made it work with the rest of the roster, i think they have been overlooked because we're used to see that 2+2 isn't 4 in the NBA, you bring KD + Booker + Beal, and you expect something great, but it didn't happen, then you gather Harden+PG13+Kawhi+Westbrook, and unsurprisingly, they're not a great defensive team and offensively they never add to the sum of their parts. In order to have a dynamic duo, you need 2 players that complement each other or play differently, Beal and Booker are about the same, but Kyrie and Luka are very different.

Somehow, their defense is carrying them hard and like role players hitting 50% on threes, and PJ Washington having random back-to-back timely 25 point games, and Lively and Gafford combining for 94%FG shooting... Some lucky breaks as well, like Kawhi being injured and completely useless. OKC not having the experience to close out games and now Minnesota shooting like 20% from 3-points... The reality of the situation is that Luka played well below his standard in the first two series of the Playoffs and his team massively stepped up while taking advantage of some luck (if Kawhi is healthy they could get bounced in 1st round with the way Harden played and the narrative would be completely different just based on a factor Dallas had no control over...) Dallas is a great team and Luka is one of the best players in the league. There's no denying that... At the same time, it's also true that Jokic, SGA and Edwards were massively outplaying Luka in the majority of these Playoffs, yet Luka will probably go the farthest of the 3 because his supporting cast came up big throughout the Playoffs while Murray and MPJ were terrible, for example... All i am saying is that this run by Dallas doesn't prove Luka is the best player in the league and Kyrie is secretly a Top 10 player everyone was underrating... Which is exactly the narrative people are trying to spin. Fact of the matter is that Dallas defense improved massively with the additions of Washington and Gafford... That was the turning point of the season and when PJ and Derrick Jones Jr. also hit over 50% of their 3pts consistently... Well, you got to give these guys their props. They are better than what people will have you believe. I can't in good conscience say Luka is the MVP of the league when Joker, SGA outplayed him through the entire year, including the Playoffs. In the end, supporting cast and luck was definitely the difference, there's really no denying that...
