I know from my own experience how difficult it can be to let others see us in these vulnerable and fragile places,but I PROMISE you…your honest sharing has helped someone else get in touch with something they,too,need to heal. My dad was an alcoholic who I loved dearly,and though he had been sober many years when he died in 1992, we had left too much unsaid. That was one of the best reactions I've seen to this performance! Thanks for sharing your personal story. This performance has an interesting story. As a surprise, the show told the performers that rather than a week until the next show, they had 2 (or maybe 3) days until the next taping so the staff could have time off for a holiday. The performers were all scrambling for time to work with the house band. In desperation, KZ had her guitarist fly from Manila to China on less than 24 hours notice. He arrived the next morning, they worked out the arrangement in a few hours that afternoon and performed it that night. By necessity, it had to be a stripped down simple arrangement and it worked beautifully. Shortly afterward, A Great Big World praised it highly.

Been in the same contests with kz tandingan, katrina velarde and morissette amon back in the visayas. I grew up in greece and turkey. When we moved in the philippines because my dad died, my filipina mexican mom tried to make me compete in singing contests here all over the philippines. And i would say theyre all nice and were really tough to beat. Kz and i were multi genre singers. We dont stick in one pallette.

Mike, I'm with you with that one man, I too went through the same thing with father. He died with him and I not getting the chance to mend things between us. So I can totally relate with that emotion man. On a side note: KZ and her guitarist( a dear friend of hers, Makoy Portado) only had 24 hours to make this arrangement , he flew to China to support her and do this song with her.

Interesting that in watching KZ sing "say something", that it touched your heart over your father. If you watch more of her on this Chinese show, you'll see her dedicate a song to her father (still living i believe), saying in part, how much she loves her father. She has the relationship with her dad that you wanted, but her music can help you grieve, heal and be the man your lady loves and respects. Bless you both😊

Reminds me when I was with my brother in hospital and he was in a coma. They are making him alive just by ventilator. Darn, I was crying the whole 2 weeks I was with him. How many times I asked him to "say something" - not an utter and he left me after all.😪😪

That is a minute away without practice guys they have time to rehears but i think 39mins if not mistaken. Because that music arrangement so very hard and the band can not do it . And kz's friend(guitarist) flew from the philippines just to make that performance happen. I think 1 hour to prepare if im not mistaken❤❤❤.

The show changed the song on her a day before the performance. She had 24 hours to get her guitarist from Manila to China and he had another concert to do before he could leave. By the time he got to China, they had no time to do a run through with the main band, so most of it was just the guitar (the band comes in very lightly partway through). In an interview with her guitarist, he said it was all up to KZ to sing the heck out of the song. I think she achieved that in spades.
