@@angrycinnamontoast794 It's also a form of art. You have to have a team of creatives at the heart of your game to have anything to capitalize on and what they do is artistic. It's writing, framing, lighting, modelling, composing music and game design from gameplay to systems. Saying that the point of making games is making money, is like telling a pop artist that the point of making music is to make money, just because they make tons of money making music. That's not the point. It's an effect of their ability to create an appealing and marketable product with their chosen art form. That's why shark cards and NFTs are such a damn shame. It completely compromises the design of the game.

For those who didn't know, they _did_ have a sequel planned and it was already in production and was cancelled in 2016. It was called the Whore of the Orient, attracted a whole bunch of controversy. Set in 20s or 30s Shanghai, you were supposed to play as a Chinese detective during a pivotal moment during modern China's development. You'll never find this bit of detail relevant if you Google the news, but you were to play as a detective of the Chinese Communist Party fighting against the Kuomintang. A little history lesson, the CCP drove Kuomintang, the original democratic party of China, out of China and the Kuomintang then formed modern-day Taiwan. Lots more to it but yeah, in hindsight, probably for the best.

I've always maintained that L.A. Noire was truly the FIRST video game for adults. Yeah, they give games with gratuitous violence and sexuality "Mature" ratings, but the sex and violence is EXACTLY why kids are gonna want to play them. This game, on the other hand, with its slow, methodical story pacing, pretty much requires an adult-level of patience to play through. I'm not saying kids CAN'T enjoy this game, but they would have to have an advanced level of maturity to appreciate the entire experience.

Are you referring to maturity in terms of the overall game (story, gameplay, setting, etc.) because not many people know much about 1947 Los Angeles. It was vibrant but violent with Mickey Cohen as the mafia boss (so to speak, he was Jewish) of the town. 1947 was also the year of McCarthyism which Cole Phelps slightly mentions in one of the missions (the House of UnAmerican Activities Committee or HUAC for short) which investigated people with ties to the Communist Party of the United States (there was a Communist Party in the US and it was pretty popular in the 1930's) and communist fellows who were sympathizers. The people at Team Bondi did excellent research and paid dearly for it when their company went under. I'm sorry if I got carried away but I was curious as to your reference of maturity and citing some examples from the game.

I've always had such a fascination of the 30s, 40s 50s era and this Jazz sounds so soothing to me... Picture yourself on a rainy night, walking inside the Blue Room Jazz Club, you walk in the atmosphere lingering with smoke, you sit down, order a drink and hear the sounds of beautiful notes being played.. such expression from the musicians. They are into the song, you look around, the flirting of couples around laughing, eating, enjoying the fun, some even dancing (who dances anymore?!?!?!) to the sounds... a feeling of comfort and warmth, this is your life, you feel welcomed by everyone, a glass of scotch on the rocks a cigar lit, beautiful women walking by smiling at you, you walk to the bar for another drink, only to introduce yourself to a woman wearing a stunning burgundy dress that even with dim lights can be seen from a mile away, the sparkles that shine through... she has been eyeing you across the dance floor from earlier in the night.. You invite her to your table, you talk and have a wonderful time, laughing, conversating about your everyday life... She smiles you go the whole night at the club you two talking, laughing, dancing... Last call is put out, you finish your 4th maybe 5th glass of scotch, you walk her outside to the cold misty night sky, the smell of rain still lingers. You call a cab, she hands you a folded paper... It's her number... A kiss on the cheek, she enters, you close the door and see her face in the distance.... This song is a warm welcome to me, it makes me feel like I'm living in the post war era of WW2... Rockstar Games really made such a great under the radar game.... I would love for them to follow suit, of the noire scene only this time in N.Y. and now through the eyes of the gangster.. a mob boss and his story of climbing the ranks making his decisions based on facts and proof just like this game... if Rockstar Games was to take there time in developing a game like this, I think it will sell out easily!!

Holy shit, this is such a vibe choom And I feel you; there’s something kinda romantic about this Post-War interim era between the 40s and 50s that just has a fuckin magic to it, it’s hard to describe but once you feel it- damn do you ever feel it People were different back then; had some bad shit goin on with racism still being prevalent but the people were…kinder, I reckon I guess all the chooms here are right; streets really ain’t what they used to be anymore, everybody’s so bitter, self-absorbed, social media obsessed Nobody wants to go out and just enjoy hanging out with their friends at a nice lounge or somethin, and these kinds of Jazz clubs are basically extinct since times have changed; I’d kill to go to a place like this and just soak up the atmosphere like a sponge, choom Like a fuckin sponge; but it’s equal parts because the people were different, the fashion was different, the entire aesthetic was different and in my opinion classier than it is now I mean fuck choom the suits were SHARP, and the dresses the dames used to wear were gorgeous without goin too overboard; it feels weird feeling nostalgic for a decade I was never born in but I wanna experience it man

I loved the game, definitely one of the best titles to be imortalized in the last genre along with Red Dead Redemption. And this soundtrack?... Just wow... It's so relaxing. I love listening to it, especially like this: - After a long stressful day... Just arrive home, pop on the music, close my eyes and just.... hmmmmm - In a warm summer night. During the summer I used to put this music on very low volume playing near my ears while I fell asleep with all my covers pulled back and my leg up against the walll... It's the small things in life that make it worth living sometimes... the feeling was amazing. - And I also love listening to it to the sounds of rain... Either by listening to rainy mood OR the actual natural thing. The rain outside, especially at night, the window a bit open, just enough to see the streets and the lights, and then just listen to both the rainy environment and the soundtrack... Feelings with no equal... Seriously... Put it on your to-do lists IF you like this track :)

Everyone has their own demons, some more dark and sinister than others. The thought danced in my mind as I sat silently in my dark office, a glass of warm whiskey in one hand and a cigarette in the other. The room was dark, the snowstorm outside had knocked the power out but I didn't care. It was nice to sit in the darkness. Outside, the wind howled as snow and sleet swore it was going to break temperature records. I slumped back into my office chair and took a long drag from my cigarette. Menthol: chewing gum for smokers. The sweet smoke filled my lungs for a moment before I exhaled. The smoke hung in the air like a bad omen. I was used to bad omens. At nearly half a century old, I had seen some things that would turn most away from my line of work on day one. Hell, I'd even contemplated walking away myself too many times to count. There was a time where everything in the world was black and white; there were good people and there were bad people, or so I thought. Oh how the mind of a young man works. I eventually realised the world is shades of grays and blacks, there is no white. Sometimes good people do bad things, sometimes bad people do good things. Everyone has their own demons, some more dark and sinister than others.

I remember the day after I first played LA Noire. I had to travel to a nearby city and I stayed in a motel. The room was very little and there werent any impressive views but I liked it. Woke up early, since the doctor gave me the first appointment and started looking through the steamed windows revealing a not-ready-for-wake up streets empty as in summer and ice cold because of winter. I took one of those unbreakable glasses they put in the bathrooms and poured some chocolate bought the night before in a nearby grocery store while I admired that calm landscape. -Great- I thought- everlasting hot water. Took off my clothes, opened the tap and pointed it to the red erased dot. As the vapor started to climb through the walls I remembered that OST I downloaded onto my mobilephone before taking the plane and pressed the play button. It was this theme the one first started, I dont know why the place was suddenly surrounded by that noir ambience. I felt calm and relaxed when I entered in the shower with that red heat light touching my skin. Bathroom was old and white but the warm climate made me remember all the memories I left on that city. Perhaps it was the past but that song and the next ones gave me a very pleasant and chill feel I cannot describe in words. Maybe it was that city, naked, without car engines. I was in a womb of sour homesickness thanks to that OST. Noir genre helps to uncover the hidden tale of loneliness in this sad world. Crime is a way of expressing the anxiety of staying alive In this ''time bomb'' environment that is life. A motel. A missing starlet. A pocket gun. A bag full of money... Sorry for my awful english

Back when I was in middle school (around the release of the game), I remember that I was really excited for this game to come out cause it was the only one at the time that was considered to be the game to play as a detective, and I loved that aesthetic and the interrogation mechanic and all that stuff. Sure I was into the other stuff that I'd be into as a 13-year old kid, but this game left an impression on me and admittedly these years later there'll never be another one like it again. Listen while reading: "It was a day like any other. Except it wasn't. Oddly enough, it was a cold day in July. In fact I remember thinking how remarkably cold it was for the middle of Summer. And then I realized I had no pants. Isn't that how life goes sometimes. I walked into the diner on 3rd street. I was getting some eggs, or so i thought. It started pouring down rain. I asked the man behind the counter for coffee. I had seen his face before, though I wasn't sure where. But it wasn't his face that drew my attention at first, I wondered why he had on a pointed bra. One of those sparkly ones with the cheer leader pompom thingies at the end, that twirl as she shakes, you know the ones. I could swear I recognized him. Something was nagging me at the back of my mind, I just couldn't put my finger on it! Finally it hit me, i turned to him, "Hey, you're a woman arent you?" He or she nodded yeah, sliding a mug my way, and poured. Okay, so he wasn't an attractive woman. But he was a woman nonetheless. I'm pretty sure anyway. A woman who knew how to... please a man. She put a little extra cheese on my plate for me. I like extra cheese. But not that fancy store bought crap, i can't compete with that. Anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself, back to the story. "'Tough day?' he or she asked. "Tough week." was my reply. She was playing a game that women and man had played for centuries. Unfortunately she looked like an open autopsy. She put the food in the oven for me. There was something that was drawing me to her, like those eggs in that oven I wanted my eggs in her oven. I had been on the trail. THe trail of the man they called "Horseface Malone, a diamond smuggler up from the Big A. Id been 50 steps behind him for months. All of a sudden the rumors started to make sense. Of how every private detective asigned to the case before me had gone clinically insane trying to find him. But i had stuck it through, had made it farther than any of them. and if me, then who else? No one else, that's who. Five months, and it leads me right here, to this very moment in time. Pantsless at a waffle house. I gaze down at the menu. Cherry soda. Now thats an odd thing for a waffle house to have. Wait a minute, all of a sudden it hit me like a locomotive on my face. Of course. It all made sense. My entire life lined up in one neat row along the train tracks. This was it. my master stroke. Horseface Malone was notorious for being obsessed with Cherry soda. That's why I have been walking to every waffle house along my travels, to find the fabled cherry soda selling waffle house, and here it was. The man behind the counter... Was Horseface Malone. "Why the long face I asked?" - He knew i was on to him , i could tell but his horseface didn't elaborate to it that he knew. He calmly cleaned his hands with the horse shoe polish. He smiled, I smiled. It was over for him. Finally my hard work had paid of. I finished the coffee and slid the mug back to Horseface Malone. Turning pale before my very eyes he probably saw my badge, or maybe my LAPD underwear. It was pouring outside, gently at first, almost like a german junkie whore smoking a cigarette. It started to rain harder and the jukebox started to stutter. "How are the stables" I asked Horseface Malone "What stables pal?" he responded cold as ice. I doubted I was wrong or was I right. "Give me a cherry soda with some waffles." As soon as he brought me the cherry soda, I cuffed him. Smiled and told him it was all over. It stopped raining and I was going to be promoted to chief, I just knew it. Turns out I was wrong, tough day was the least of my problems. Nowadays, they have me taking all kinds of pills at this mental institution. But god damn I swore I was right. Turns out the woman was just ugly as sin and was working a summer job. They searched him up and down. Nothin', the acetone in forensics showed no sign of... cherry soda. Years went by, and the world forgave me for my transgression, though i never asked that of it. To this day I still know he's out there...

Philosopherous For give me for my lack of articulation, not very knowledgeable in music theory. But when the music kinda rises it sound very much like the opening theme of Taxi Driver. Also, imagine Scorsese making a NY Noire film set around the late 40's, would be awesome!

You got your wish :) fans should make sure it sells well, they are probably testing the waters to see if this game still draws - if it does well we can be almost sure there will be a sequel. Gonna buy it for PS4 in November for sure !

"You were dead, you were sleeping the big sleep, you were not bothered by things like that, oil and water were the same as wind and air to you. You just slept the big sleep, not caring about the nastiness of how you died or where you fell. Me, I was part of the nastiness now. Far more a part of it than Rusty Regan was." -The Big Sleep (Phillip Marlowe, #1)

0:13 that soft crescendo, not really sure if I'm using the word right - it is so catchy for me and somehow to me it translates the feel of the game, especially when the smooth sax comes in. This game got mixed reviews when it came out iirc. But this will always be my top 10.

I loved playing this game until a couple of weeks back when I was diagnosed with a specific variation of epilepsy that is triggered with refresh rates from things such as video games. I put so much time into this game, alongside apex legends. Today I am selling my ps4. Sad to leave this past behind. I remember countless nights of just playing this and driving alongside my partner and busting light posts (and him freaking out), and having this play in the background. Nice times.
