I don't know a lick of French or even the local cajun dialect, but I can't stop listening to all of their songs. So relaxing to just sit back and listen with not a care in the world.

"La Chandelle Est Allumée" ("The Candle is Alight") is a song that deals with the winds of change and the fact that there are now people out there capitalizing on Cajun culture, rather than trying to stifle it as in the past.

A fine performance as usual from L'Angélus. And a great touch at the end - slowing the tempo and going to B&W - isn't l'Angelus the hour of the evening mass? There's a very beautiful, moving Van Gogh painting by that name of farmers pausing in the field at sunset to observe that special hour.

I'm not sure whether it is really the title of the song, but the most frequent word is "Allumée". The riff is: "La chandelle est allumée / Le vent a tout changé", meaning "The candle is lighted / The wind has changed everything". It refers surely about the sufferings of the Cajun people, and how they kept their joy of living.
