Never saw tender first returns on the W&W. This must be new

Well, it all depends on the trip, locomotives, how many cars they're pulling, etc. This was a one-way private charter to Hockessin - the passengers were bused in to Greenbank and picked up in Hockessin, plus not every coach was used. Since there was no diesel needed to help them get a shorter empty train back up Hockessin Hill, they didn't bring one along on the trip - and did the rare run-around move. 95% of the time there will be a diesel at the other end - but every now and then you might get lucky...

It's hard to believe that 98 used to run back and forth on the rail line behind my house, the old Miss Central main between Natchez and Hattiesburg.

Really wish W&W when they run steam they do runarounds at the end of the line more often as it’s really rare.

Wait I knew Lionel made model trains but they do trips on real trains too?
@Bigjimvideo3 жыл бұрын
This was for the Lionel Operating Train Society, a club devoted to Lionel trains - they hold annual conventions in different locations every year, and they chartered a trip on the W&W.

Are they considering running more trains like that from now on? That'd be really nice to see.

Problem is, most of our regularly scheduled trains are too heavy for 98 without a helper. And since there's a helper on the rear, no point in running around. Seems like once every year or two though, a charter pops up with a light enough consist for 98 to handle on her own.

Nice!

Couldn't get an SW-1, take off the cab and build a caboose body over it? Trolley lines once did that with trolley bodies, I read.

Nice! Is that a PRR whistle on 98?
@SierraRailway8 жыл бұрын
I want to say its a 6" Lonergan 3-Chime, but I can't be sure.

The bell sounds distinctly PRR too! You could easily pass audio from 98 as a Pennsy d16!
