I don’t believe any company is too big to bring down, if that is one’s goal. Going cruelty free is one easy way to affect their brands. Tell more of your friends about animal testing. Encourage them to also go cruelty free.
@FoxxyFire-HellFrost
@FoxxyFire-HellFrost 8 күн бұрын
I've been staunchly cruelty free for 18 years. I remember when I first made that choice, there were so few brands, especially high end brands, that didn't test on animals in any capacity. But over the years, more and more new brands have appeared where refusal to test has become a huge selling point. And now, California has even passed a law prohibiting the sale of beauty items that have been tested on animals which, if I remember correctly, plans to pass next year. This could help push a large number of brands to stop testing, since California is a huge market. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but I have hope that at least one state had the votes to end this senseless cruelty.

The journo in me LOVES this kinds of deep dive into brands. The fact is all big brands have some kind of dodgy past, and their tentacles are so numerous, it is almost impossible to avoid it. Cerave, LRP are all under L’Oreal, and while in the west, the options are more, in Asia it’s harder to do so, at least for Western options. Thank goodness we have Korean and Japanese products (but those aren’t perfect either).

Not shocking though, as Isreal herself has ties to the third reich, having funded their holocaust through American Zionist organisation Rothschild and their genocide fund piggy bank, the federal reserve. Also “quirky” is their insistence that everybody else is the anti semite ….. real “quirky”… Now back to this wonderful ku klux cosmetics company and all the kind and inclusionary white supremacists that run it.

I was working for a company that got bought by L'Oréal. It was a pretty small company and was producing "fair and natural" cosmetic products. We were just working and suddenly our supervisor came in and told everyone we will meet with everyone in the packaging area. There they told us we got just bought by L'Oréal and they didn't know if they would close the company down or if we'd be able to keep our jobs. Everyone was completely distressed because there literally are no other jobs around here. I left this job a few weeks after that but kept in touch and thankfully the company didn't close. Nevertheless we felt quite betrayed by our employer. It also makes no sense for L'Oréal to buy this company because as I said it was "fair and natural" and also cruelty free which L'Oréal just isn't.

My grandmother escaped the nazis, and from the little she ever spoke about it; crossing through France was one of the most terrifying parts. She was 24, 9 months pregnant with my father, and did not yet know she was widowed and orphaned. She didn't find out for 5 more years. We must hold all of these companies accountable for their pasts and do the same for companies complicit in similar atrocities in the present. Never Again. For anyone.

They are cheap drug store products. Also, in many parts of the world, this is all you have. For example, in Egypt, the vast majority of the population only option for hair shampoo is L'Oréal elseve

I think if they didn't own all those looks like hundreds of major labels, they'd prolly decline. I can't think of anything I use being the actual L'Oréal brand?!

I too have heard only meh reviews about them, as people find better products elsewhere for lesser or the same price anyway. The only things I've used from them are their 1) face scrub - which I bought because I was a teenager in this store just looking to buy a compact powder and this sales lady manipulated me into buying the scrub to fix my non-existent black head problem. Looking back, I think she did it to meet a sales goal. After that experience I began noticing that this was a common issue in beauty stores here so I stopped going to buy makeup or skin care from physical stores, and 2) the hyaluronic acid shampoo sachet which I got free for ordering groceries above the said amount from an app. The scrub was ok but the shampoo was good. Yet I didn't want to buy a full bottle of it as I was already using one that gave the same results for a lesser price.

I remember when the documentary came out. I did watch it and it was pretty heartbreaking. After I looked into it and honestly L'Oréal didn't care they issued a rubbish press release about how it's awful and they didn't know n that they would work with partners to make sure no children were working. If I remember correctly they didn't say anything much about paying people a fair wage so they can support their families. The people were getting their children to help because companies lien L'Oréal had lowered the amount they would pay for Jasmin and were paying per pound(I think it was pounds) so the people had to pick as much as possible to make a very basic wage. It's awful I side eye L'Oréal products when I see them but there were a lot of companies I still didn't know were owned by L'Oréal that I had products from 😢

@@jodiegordon5559 I think throwing them out is not helpful as they have already given their money to the company. The best thing to do is when the products are over, find the same products from a company that isn't owned by and isn't as bad as L' Oréal. Let's be real, nowadays it's impossible to find an ethical company so the best way to go is to find the "worse among the worst ones".

The reason they are still so prolific within the beauty market is because they own pretty much all of brands available to consumers, making it very difficult to avoid doing business with them. It's shocking just how many they own, and the list grows longer every year.

Lo’Real owns many of the beauty brands in sales today. Including prestige brands such as Armani, Prada, Khiels, Lancôme, YSL beauty. Their lipsticks are ysl and Armani beauty. No need to buy the expensive stuff. Their cruelty issue made me stop using my fave mascara from them.

To offer some context, Nazism also became very popular in the US. If Hitler hadn’t wanted to go a-conquering, the party looked like it was in its way to fully developing here. Many rich & famous, like Charles Lindbergh, were openly pro-Nazi. Nazism was popular in several Allies countries, UK & ofc France, too. Only the power clusters incentivized stamping it out because of Hitler’s imperialism. Wars weren’t terribly philosophical in the 20th century, that’s more of a propaganda thing, ultimately we fought WW2 & allied with the USSR when we were def enemies, not because Nazism was so much worse than Communism to the deciders, but because it was the option that maintained as much economic stability as possible. The GOP and Dems were both in flux at this time, FDR really created the modern Democratic Party & new platforms weren’t quite so clear, but the US didn’t start actually addressing Nazism & anti-semitism in the US (there were PSAs to not use slurs and yep, they say the slur, but the ads are actually quite lovely) UNTIL it was clear that entering the war was necessary. Then we get hyped up to fight the nazis, so it feels like that was the main reason to fight WW2, but a lot of anti-Nazi Americans were neutral on the issue a decade before. All this is to say that there certainly were many many non-Nazi companies but it is absolutely not a shock to see wealthy people in Allies countries getting into this perverse bigotry. US started radicalizing toward racism in 1910, things actually were much better in 1890s than 1910s for Black folks - and the 1890s were close to Great Depression, silver collapse wiped out a lot.

At this point the name of the issue for basically all large companies is that they want record profits. Profits are not good enough. Profits by the way should be after all expenses and pocketed so wages are already factored in.
