A lot of people taking this one personally 😅 I try to leabe my personal opinions out of these videos and just share facts BUT Here’s what I have to say; 1) if a product works for your skin, keep using it. Not everyone cares about what goes on behind the scenes and for some, it’s a privilege to be able to be picky with your skincare 2) These videos, whilst hopefully informative (and factual) are made to entertain. Through my ‘When Beauty Turns Ugly’ etc series, I’ve found that you will be hard pressed to find a single brand that, in some way, hasn’t broken the law, isn’t ‘toxic’ to their workers in some way, or has some form of problematic past. It’s up to you as a consumer to choose what you deem as forgivable to you. No judgement here

I never really thought I’d ever have even looking skin because I have dealt with acne up to my late 20s. Of course I can’t say 100 percent this was it, but it was the one thing that I started using and never stopped. I wish I had taken photos of the before of my skin if I had known there would be such a difference but I just bought it on a whim. The other one I really like is the CEO glow oil. I use that one at night and the other during the day. The oil just is a little odd smelling but I’ve grown to really like it actually.

“Credibility is key.” Riiiiiiight…. I laughed out loud when I read that part. Have never used Sunday Riley for no particular reason, but now I never will. I love this format, James! 💜

Tried a few of their products (United Airline used to give out Sunday Riley hand cream and lip balm in business class), not at all impressed. For that kind of prices, I would rather go with products such as Skinceuticals that are backed by clinical evidence.

Not me being a basic bish and allergic to literally everything skincare related but products of Cetaphil (best affordable that I can budget). 😅 I do always wonder how nice it must be to not be allergic to almost everything. I struggle to find makeup that doesn’t cause more acne and rashes too.

@JamesWelsh - love these videos. I can see your dedication to reality and facts. I appreciate you painting the full picture of a brand/a person. No one is all good or all evil, and you thoughtfully present the 360 view. In a time when bias is so blatant and obvious, you manage to present a historical account with the utmost integrity. I just want to thank you for all of the work you put into these kinds of videos. They have really set you apart in the skin/beauty KZbin space.

I saw SR interview in which she talked about picking flowers on Monday and them being in your product Friday. That's how fresh and active they are! First that seems physically impossible since the plants were in France. Distillation takes time too. Also how can one do any quality control in such a short time? Not every rose hip has the same amount of vitamin c. She was lying. And she had to know that, which is why I wasn't surprised about the reviews.

I just fell in love with the cleanser ceramic slip though :'( it's so good applied to dry face, slowly adding water and keep massaging.
@picklethepepper3 ай бұрын
The old ceramic slip was way better. It's still good but it's not nearly as good as it was 10 years ago. They reformulated it. But in the end, if you like a product keep using it. I still use good genes and ceo serum while knowing all the bad about her. I would rather have amazing skin than to boycott because she's questionable as a person.

I like the Luna oil and Good Genes, had great results with the products. However, I’m at a point in my life where I refuse to pay a high price tag for the products.
@Soul_LatinaАй бұрын
I never knew about any of this. I heard of it happening with Amazon product. Anyways I started using S.R cause someone a Sephora recommended and I did see results. I was using that entire skin care line and I saw changes right away. Recently, while shopping at Sephora a sales rep from dr. Dennis gross recommended their products and I switched because it’s a little more affordable and also I needed my skin to reset from Sunday Riley products. That’s where I’m at now Long story short, I did use and saw result from Sunday Riley. I guess she wanted to climb the latter super fast and she figured a way to do it, just wasn’t right

I remember going to a dermatologist about 10 years ago. I told her I had bought some Sunday Riley products and had been disappointed and that I was surprised, as at that time they were getting great reviews from a popular skincare influencer. The dermatologist said she didn’t rate the products at all but if you get the right people on board and get decent pr your brand will do very well whether it’s good or not.

It's such a bummer because Good Genes is just the best. I have not found anything that comes close for my skin and as a licensed Esthetician I can tell you I've tried a lot, even working to pinpoint which ingredient specifically my skin responds so well to in their formula. That being said, I am also cursed with a moral compass and have not bought a new bottle in 3 years because I just can't stand behind shady business practices.

This was very enlightening to say the least! I honestly had no idea about any of this.. but I'm not surprised tbh.. it seems like so many companies pull this kind of crap in some way or another, it's just that some are better at hiding it than others- especially when it comes to marketing scandals like fake reviews etc. I've only tried the Luna Night oil that I got in an advent calendar and I used it twice and hated it. It's been almost 2 years and I still have the little bottle and it's basically full.. I thought maybe I'd come around lol.. Great video as always James:)❤

With reactive and sensitive skin, Good Genes and Juno oil worked great for me many years ago. After product reformulation for Good Genes, I shifted into Biologique Recherche products and never looked back. SR product quality seemed to change after large scale distribution, which happens to a lot of companies. Their focus on misleading reviews is off putting, especially with their price point.

They now sell this brand on QVC. I ordered some and can confidently say it was the worst skincare I've ever used.You should go and read the reviews, they are horrific. Almost all negative, people posting pictures of allergic reactions to products, it's pretty terrible for a company. Sunday Riley also appears on QVC UK repeating these claims about herself and her background.

I love the Behind the Beauty series! I knew about the fake reviews but I didn't know about all these other scandals.
@polinatalmeltzer4503 ай бұрын
That’s so disturbing! 😳 I remember reading through those very reviews and thinking: I can’t afford it, that’s so unfair, I want these results!! Then I watched dr. Dray’s video (and other respectable dermatologists who also work with skincare formulas)where she analyzed the formula and concluded that there’s nothing special and there are lots of even better and affordable options from known brands like Neutrogena, who make long-term research, and also from Korean ones where their traditional and newly discovered ingredients mixed together with the same actives provide even better results for people with sensitive skin. So then I understood, that SR is bs-ing the house. But this is next level!! Thank you for covering such important issues!!

I used to have some of her products. I used to have really bad acne and was desperate to get rid of it and nothing seemed to work. I stumbled across this brand and tried it, but it made my acne so much worse. I finally went to an allergist, and turned out I'm allergic to a bunch of the ingredients, and to add insult to injury, most of my acne was actually eczema due to me having an allergic reaction... For all my sensitive skin people, I use Dove, Cetaphil, and Native, and I haven't had a severe breakout since.
@samisparkleheart3 ай бұрын
I understand the eczema struggles. Eucerin, La Roche Posay Lipikar, and K beauty brands do right by me 😊 I'm breastfeeding now & made my own breastmilk soap and that turned out to be very gentle and effective for me too.

Skin1004’s centella line is perfect for sensitive skin! Cetaphil, Cerave, Pyunkang Yul, Beauty of Joseon, and La Roche Posay do not work well for my dry, sensitive skin (everything was too heavy) and I had pretty much given up on skincare until I got a sample of the Skin1004 line.
