In this video the bass player is Rudy Sarzo and the drummer is Tommy Aldridge...I got to see Ozzy with this line up in January of 1982. Randy Rhoads completely blew my mind and that concert remains one of the best concerts I've ever seen. A couple months later Randy Rhoads was gone...so sad.

Phenomenal intro by Lindsay Bridgwater. Don Airey recorded the album. Lindsay toured for the most of 1981. Don Airey started touring in December 1981 while Johnny Cook recorded Diary Of A Madmen February - March 1981. Rudy Sarzo on bass and Tommy Aldridge on drums.

Thanks for doing this. I always enjoy your videos. This performance featured Lindsay Bridgwater (instead of Don Airey), Rudy Sarzo (instead of Bob Daisley) and Tommy Aldridge (instead of Lee Kerslake). Well, I see some great people who were quicker than me and have mentioned this before. Maybe I'll add a few more things. Someone might be interested in this. Lindsay played a Minimoog, which was notorious for getting out of tune. He also played a Roland RS-09 string synthesizer, which was a bit similar sounding to the much more well known ARP (Solina) String Ensemble. He also doubled the guitar theme in the middle of the song and the start of the next guitar solo with the Minimoog. To my knowledge, the band was playing in a TV studio and there wasn't any audience present when they filmed this. I think they did a few takes (as usual) and naturally Ozzy isn't in a full performance mode all the time. Everyone in the band is still doing a very good job. Ozzy's "Blizzard of Ozz" band had some of the very best musicians. I love the guitar players he had, especially Randy Rhoads and Jake E. Lee. Tommy Aldridge and Lee Kerslake are both very solid drummers. Kerslake was a longtime member of Uriah Heep and I really enjoy some of their songs. Bob Daisley is one of my absolute favorite musicians and Rudy Sarzo is a very good bass player as well. Don Airey has been in a lot of bands. He's currently in Deep Purple and has already been a member of the band for many years. One of my favorite things was when he played in Colosseum II with Gary Moore. They had a song called "Dark Side of the Moog". :-)

a little context here. This incredible performance was at a little tiny UHF television station in Rochester, NY. ...not even a week into the Blizzard Tour. They had only played 5 shows. Back then, a new band had to work their asses off to get publicity. Ozzy Osbourne was by no means some huge rock star...just by the mear fact he had to play this little television show. This was 4 months before M-TV was even born. In April of 1981, only 25% of the entire United States even had cable tv....let alone the Internet. I lived in a major city, Detroit, and didnt get cable access and M-TV until 5 years later in 1986. It was a whole different game back then. Thank God this was recorded..some of the greatest guitar work ever filmed. Guy was afkn born star.

Oddly, they played the "Day on the Green" festival at Oakland Coliseum on July 4th, and it wasn't filmed by anyone...but almost all the other Day on the Greens were filmed, so theres that. The Diary Tour was much bigger and plans were in place to film shows. The accident happened on MARCH 19TH, and they were going to Orlando on the 20th to play the Tangerine Bowl. Sadly, the show after on the 21st, they were gonna play the Orange Bowl in Miami and M-TV was going to film that show....ugh.

As others mentioned - that was Tommy Aldridge on the drums. When I saw them in 82, he did a killer drum solo and part way through he chucked his sticks into the audience and went nuts bare-handed on the drum kit! BTW - A lot of people thought Ozzy was promoting Crowley, but if you listen to the lyrics, he is bashing him for misleading people. (Note the line: "Mr. Crowley, won't you ride my white horse. Mr. Crowley, it's symbolic of course")

I was under the impression "ride my white horse" was slang for doing heroin. Therefore Ozzy saying it's symbolic of course isn't bashing him it's alluding to its hidden meaning as Crowley did in many of his writings (use symbolism.)

Aleister Crowley appears on the cover of The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band as part of a collage featuring a variety of influential figures from different fields, including art, music, and literature. The inclusion of Crowley, a controversial occultist and esoteric writer, reflects the album's themes of exploration, counterculture, and the breaking of societal norms during the 1960s. The identity of the real Sgt. Pepper is a question that Beatlemaniacs have been asking for over 50 years and, given its notoriety, there are countless theories in the ether surrounding the possible identity. One of the most popular beliefs that Beatles fans have been speculating for decades is that Sgt. Pepper’s identity is a man who goes by the name of Aleister Crowley, a person once branded ‘the wickedest man in the world’.The record was released 20 years on from the death of Crowley, which the band seem to draw attention to on the opening line of the album when they sing, “It was 20 years ago today, Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play,” which suggests that they are aligning themselves with the occultist. This was seemingly confirmed by Lennon’s 1980 interview with Playboy’s David Sheff. In the interview, Lennon seemingly repeats Crowley’s most famous teaching, “Do what thou wilt is the whole of the Law,” when he said, “The whole Beatle idea was to do what you want, right? To take your own responsibility, do what you want and try not to harm other people, right? Do what thou wilt, as long as it doesn’t hurt somebody.” The fact that Lennon uttered these words suggests that this is more than just another Beatles conspiracy theory like the infamous ‘Paul Is Dead‘ myth and there is some substance to the belief that Crowley is the true Sgt. Pepper.
