The very beginning of Stoner Metal in 1971, they were creating whole genres of heavy music in the 70s, all heavy bands that came after owe some influence to them. Another on the great album, Masters of Reality, that is a harbinger of Doom Metal, is Into the Void, about as heavy as it gets. Sabbath is a top 10 band in Rock History, so much starts with them. Yet they still sound amazing 50+ years later and will be listened to long into the future. More Black Sabbath! Enjoy. 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶🔥

Black Sabbath got groove on them, as well as the heavy riffs... They created an entire genre of music from the first 10 years of their career from 1969 - 1979... This was from 1971 - the original band: Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and Bill Ward (drums)... They admitted to smoking d++e in their inception but bassist Geezer Butler said he wrote the lyrics to 'Sweet Leaf' about cigarettes (his brand was called 'Sweet Afton') and it became the anthem for smoking grass in the 70's. Black Sabbath classics include - 'Paranoid' ... 'N.I.B.' ... 'Iron Man' ... 'Children of the grave' ... 'Snowblind'... 'Sabbath bloody Sabbath'... 'Into the void'... In 1980, Ozzy Osbourne started a solo career after he was fired from Black Sabbath in 1979... Meanwhile, Black Sabbath carried on w/ new singer and new members from 1980 to 1996 w/ Tony Iommi (guitar) being the solo original member... Their other famous singer was (the late) Ronnie James Dio, who replaced Ozzy from 1980 to 1982, before he was fired and found success w/ his own band Dio in 1983. Ronnie James Dio returned to Black Sabbath for 1 more album in 1992 but quit in 1993. The original Black Sabbath reunited to tour in 1997 w/ Ozzy Osbourne on vocals and they recorded 1 last album '13' in 2013 before ending their career in 2017. Ronnie James Dio's version of Sabbath got a new name - Heaven and Hell. They released 1 album 'The Devil you know' in 2009 before Ronnie James Dio passed away from cancer in 2010. His Black Sabbath songs include - 'Heaven and hell' ... 'Computer God' ... 'Children of the Sea'... 'The Mob rules'... 'Sign of the Southern Cross'.

Love the middle bit, Bill and Geezer playing free jazz, then "we're back, into the heaviest riff ever, ...." perfectly synced. Some suggestions from the 1974ish Sabbath Bloody Sabbath album: title track, National Acrobat, Killing Yourself to Live, and Spiral Architect. Was one of their best and most sophisticated albums from the early classic period. Have to hear it. I'd also second all the Hand of Doom suggestions. Geezer wrote most of the lyrics, and Hand of Doom and War Pigs are lyrical classics.

Okay fellas, I think this album dropped in 1971 or 72 so that would make me about 14 or 15 years old at the time and believe it or not, being a child of the 60s and 70s, I had already experimented and tried marijuana!! So needless to say, with Sweet Leaf being the opening track for that third album, Master of Reality, as soon as we heard the coughing we knew EXACTLY what the song was about!!😮😅😅 Every track on this third album is fantastic but may I recommend: Into the Void, Children of the Grave, or After Forever!! All excellent songs lyrically, all written by Geezer Butler the bassist!!❤
