Thank you to our patron Todd M for this wonderful pick... just gorgeous. This guitar was singing straight to my soul. He was such a special guy with so much heart and soul... I can only imagine the magic he could have come up with he was still here. Thank you for this Stevie. This was pure beauty.

This beautiful composition by Stevie seems to express all the pain, introspection, forgiveness, comfort and healing that Stevie experienced through his recovery from addiction. He dedicated it to "all who are still suffering in every way" and you can just sink into that gentle place while listening. I sometimes play this to relax before bed or just to settle into a calm place to quiet my thoughts. Stevie may be gone, but his presence can still be felt through his music, and I think this masterpiece intentionally connects his heart to ours.

🙌👏🎸🎶‼️This is the masterpiece that is Riveria Paradise🎶. What you saw in Toyko was just a quick outline of what it was to become. Please know that you can never say oh I heard that song already as there are so many different versions of the same song. This is such an expressive emotional journey. You easily recognized the pain and suffering so beautifully expressed but it also wraps you up in a warm, golden hug bestowing peace and comfort. It provides understanding for the suffering while encouraging the strength it takes to move beyond the pain to the joy of freeing your soul. I have never been an addict but .i recognize the suffering taking place and this is such a soothing balm for a weary spirit✨🌟⭐️ This is my favorite of all of Stevie's work.💯. I hope you explore more of his own work as he was an excellent song writer. Aint Gone 'N' Give Up On Love as performed at the Capitol theatre 1985 is fantastic and won't be blocked. (you've done 2 from there already). Love Stevie Ray Sundays and your deepening connection to our Stevie💙🎶🎸💙🎶

This performance and concert is my favorite because of the quality, sober, top notch playing, and the fact he was home in Austin at a time and the world was his oyster. Then it hits when you realize it was near his end. So many p.o.s. are still kicking and fate takes this guy. I've had lots of trauma and loss in my life but always hopeful and trying to have purpose. SRV inspires me still but reminds me loudly how precious time is. Wish that brother had more.

If Someone accuses SRV of "Only" playing the blues , play "Riviera Paradise " for them to shut them up . The story of the studio take that got on the album is in itself amazing . The band had been working on the song all day & couldn't get it . One take to slow , another too fast etc. The engineer had kept tape rolling through out the session & they try again and this time they are On It ! But the reel of tape was running out & the engineer knew he had the take , but would they finish up before the tape ran out ? He gets drummer Chris Laytons attention finally & signals to him to wrap it up and they do so just in time as the tape ran out right after they concluded that take . Sometimes Luck smiles on you

Watch the video of guitar greats talking about Stevie. Especially what Clapton and BB King said helped me understand why i love Stevie so. He was an overflowing well- music poured from his being. There never seemed to be transitions in the songs, just a continuous flow that couldn't be stopped until he put the guitar down. He never played a song the same way twice.

This is the "Riviera Paradise" I mentioned in my post on your "Lenny" reaction. This concert is Stevie reaching his peak. Who knows what he could have done after this? Within a year later, he was gone. What a tragedy. Please watch this whole show after you watch the whole El Macambo show. He does "Voodoo Chile" in the Austin City Limits show that will blow you away. In the El Macambo show, he plays "Little Wing" which is another Hendrix cover that is so good. Keep on checking out these SRV videos. But please take the time to watch the complete concert videos that are available. Capital Theater in New Jersey, Daytona Florida and any of the others. It will show the progression of a true guitar master, through good times and also his struggles and ultimately his triumph over addiction. A truly amazing talent taken far too soon.

Stevie said that he wasn’t very good at school, that he couldn’t express himself well with words, and that the only way he had to express himself was with his guitar. He played all the time and held nothing back. Maybe he figured out everything he was supposed to learn here and was allowed to graduate early. The day he died was so horribly shocking though. The first report I heard was on the radio, they announced a helicopter had gone down, no survivors, our condolences to the Vaughan family. What!? Jimmie? Stevie? Both? It was Stevie. They had made a record together, I’d heard the first single two days before.

What I find so cool about this… very few rock/blues bands could pull this off. Many bands, their audience wouldn’t “get it.” SRV could do this because he had exactly the audience he wanted. They were musicians FIRST. A lot of bands in the 80’s made the music secondary to the show. SRV never made that mistake.

SRV is one of a kind. There's a 14 yr old however that does an amazing job playing SRV and other songs by music greats. Taj Farrant is touring the US. He has had 4 original songs in the last year Crossroads, Cruz, Bad Trip and House Always Wins, go to #1 on the worldwide blues charts. He has a new song 2x2 coming out in May. Taj is compared to SRV a lot. I think he favors Gary Moore's sound but he and his guitar are one. You watch him and you have to remind yourself he's 14. Taj is playing at some of the big blues festivals this summer and is going to be opening for Buddy Guy a few nights. He's also a performer on the Joe Bonamassa blues cruise next March. My favorite is him playing Gary Moore's Parisienne Walkways. There's a video of his tribute to Gary but there's lots of videos of Taj. I'm sending the video of him playing Rivera Paradise. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKW2l5mCjJ2Fjrssi=ORZLT4Ksgxseq5YY
