That guitar player really went the extra on this live track. Great studio version as well. Bill Withers was a gem. You can't really go wrong with any of his music; Lovely Day, Ain't No Sunshine, Just the Two of Us with Grover Washington Jr, and Lean on Me are his most famous, although, Heartbreak Road has a special place in my song playlists.

Live songs recorded for the late night UK show "The Old Grey White Test" are typically awesome! For example, Edgar Winter's iconic live version of "Frankenstein" was recorded for it. Famously hosted by the great "Whispering Bob Harris’", this show introduced so many singers/bands to UK audiences. 😊

The late great Bill Withers... I've been a fan since getting his Live at Carnegie Hall lp when I was 12. He actually was brought in to produce and write songs for my old girlfriend's album in 80s and was as down to earth as they come. And yes James Gadson on drums is as funky as they come. The live version of I Can't Write Left Handed is a sleeper tune that will give you some insight into Bill the man.

Ned from Spain stopping by again. Bill Withers wrote a lot of great funky tunes with some world wise lyrics. Kinda folk n funky n jazzy with solid players. "Grandma's Hands" " Harlem " " Who is He and What is He to You ? " " Lonely Town Lonely Street " " Hello Like Before" so many. If you dig this try some Gil Scott Heron ???
